‘DOOL’ Head Writer Ron Carlivati Joins New CBS Daytime Series
Days of Our Lives recently saw the departure of head writer Ron Carlivati. However, Carlivati is set to join the team of an upcoming CBS series. Carlivati will also be working with various other former crew of various soap operas.
Ron Carlivati Has Had Quite The History In Soaps
Carlivati has had quite the history when it comes to soap operas. Back in 2007, he was promoted to the role of head writer for the series One Life to Live. Since the show’s cancelation, he then went on to work on General Hospital.
During his time on the show, Carlivati was noted for bringing in various One Life to Live actors onto the show to entice fans of the canceled soap. However, he left the series by 2015.
Early in 2017, however, Carlivati was announced as a new head writer for Days of Our Lives. It was announced he would leave the show in 2024, though he gave the series enough material well until 2025.
Carlivati Will Be Working Alongside Other Soap Opera Writers
However, Carlivati already has his next writing job lined-up. He will now serve on the writing team of the upcoming CBS daytime drama, Beyond the Gates. This series will look at the generations of an African-American family as they live within a gated community.
When it comes to the new series, Carlivati is in good company, as a variety of soap opera writing veterans will work on the series behind the scenes. For starters, former General Hospital writer Michele Val Jean is the series creator, in addition to executive producer, head writer, and showrunner.

According to Michael Fairman TV, Sunset Beach creator Bob Guza Jr. will also serve as executive producer and co-head writer. Carlivati will also join other soap opera alumni on the writing team as breakdown writers. This includes Sara A. Bibel and Teresa Zimmerman from The Young and the Restless and Christopher Dunn from Days of Our Lives, as well as The Bay creator Gregori J. Martin.
Many commenters on the post are already speculating on what Carlivati’s involvement will mean for the project. As one fan mused, “Well… if ReRon is involved, that makes this show less of a threat to GH at least. The irony of him and Bob Guza working together though…..”
Notably, some fans were concerned that the series was mostly rehiring established writers. However, some also acknowledged that Carlivati and his team will just serve as breakdown writers.
As previously reported, the new series will take the place of the talk show, The Talk. The upcoming drama is expected to premiere on on February 24, 2025, after The Talk airs its final scheduled episode in December.
