Ken Jennings was one of the best champions in Jeopardy! history. However, there was one moment during his long run that people are talking about a lot now. Here is what happened on Jeopardy!

Ken Jennings Reminded Of His Infamous Answer

During Ken Jennings’s long run as Jeopardy! champion, he got one question that resulted in a very funny yet slightly sexist answer. Viewers may know him these days as the current host of the game show, but, as a contestant on the show, he had some pretty iconic moments as well.

The clue was, “This term for a long-handled gardening tool can also mean an immoral pleasure seeker.”

The correct answer was “What is a rake?” However, Ken gave a very different answer, saying, “What is a hoe?” Alex Trebek quickly said, “No,” and then gave an extended, “Whoa!” before asking if that is what they taught him at college in Utah.

This week, there was a new question that was in the category “All A Board!” The photo showed a person wearing a board with the words,  “What is a hoe?” written on it. The clue was “It’s the delicious advertising item in use here.” The answer was “Sandwich board.”

Ken laughed about the image as he told the player he was correct. Ken Jennings then quipped, “This sandwich board is giving me flashbacks.” Fans also had a little bit to say about the trolling job by the writers.

  • “Ohh, they did him dirty!”
  • “Mr. Alex Trebek caught it quick when he said “NO” to the response.”
  • “Jeopardy! always use this clip whenever they can lol”
  • “They will never let Ken forget it”

Ken Jennings’ Old Answer Came Back Thanks To Recent Question

The reason people are talking about Ken Jennings’ old missed answer is because of a “problematic” question this month on the show. The question was from an old poem in the category “Complete The Rhyming Phrase.” The start was “Men seldom make passes at…”

The answer was, “What is Girls Who Wear Glasses.” The problem is that there was a woman in glasses playing the game. Many fans chimed in that the poem was sexist and inappropriate.

What most fans don’t know is that it was written by a woman named Dorothy Parker, a famous female poet who long was a warrior fighting for civil rights and social justice. However, when taken on its own, without context, it was clear why many people misinterpreted the poem’s lines.

Are you surprised that Jeopardy! trolled Ken Jennings concerning this old answer from his past? Do you want to see it again in the future? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
