‘On Patrol: Live’ BCSO Sergeant Devon Lindsay, 26, Loses Life

In a post on Facebook, and shared by the On Patrol: Live Reddit page, the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office recently shared the passing of Sgt. Devon Lindsay. According to the statement, the sergeant was killed in a hit-and-run incident. Lindsay was 26 at the time of his death.

Lindsay Lost His Life In An Early Morning Hit-And-Run Collision

According to the statement released on Facebook, Sgt. Lindsay had been the victim of a hit-and-run accident. The incident occurred at around 5:00 a.m. on Old Gilliard Road.

Sgt. Lindsay was 26 at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife and three children, with another on the way.

Sheriff Duane Lewis released a statement, saying, “This unfortunate accident was preventable, and we are mourning the loss of our co-worker.” The statement continued, “We are thankful to the MAIT from SCHP for their work on this case and we are confident that justice will be served. We ask the community to please keep his family in their prayers as he leaves behind a wife and small children.”

It was noted that Lindsay had been a part of the agency since 2019. He was also described as “a dedicated member of our agency and served his community well.”

According to ABC News 4, Lindsay was a Ridgeville native and worked at the Hill-Finklea Detention Center. He was reporting to duty at the time he was hit.

News of Lindsay’s death was also shared on the On Patrol: Live Reddit page. As one user wrote, “I knew Sgt. Lindsay. I’m a retired Sergeant from that facility.”

“I have to say he was one of the good ones, never complained, no complaints on him, just an all around good young man.” As the statement continued, “I still can’t believe this whole mess. I pray for his Wife and young kids.”

As the On Patrol: Live Reddit page noted, a suspect had been arrested in connection with Lindsay’s death. In a WCBD News 2 video released on YouTube, the driver of the vehicle was identified as a 30-year-old woman named Jessica Goodwin. According to the video, Sheriff Lewis thanked the MAIT from SCHP for their work and said he was sure justice would be served.

According to ABC News 4, Sgt. Lindsay’s wife shared that, “I saw the accident from my son’s bedroom window and had no idea what it was because my husband should have already rode to work.” She also noted that her “husband did not come home and never will again.” Officials noted that Lindsay was on his motorcycle at the time he was struck.
