Michael Strahan Faced Tough Times As A Father
Michael Strahan and his daughter Isabella spoke with Town & Country where they opened up about her struggle with brain cancer. She’s been recently cleared by doctors and deemed cancer-free. It’s a good feeling to have but Isabella nor her father will forget the terrifying times they went through.
Michael was asked if he ever thought that Isabella could actually die from the deadly disease. He was honest with his answer. He said,
“Yes, as a parent you hear that your kid has cancer and you go, ‘Whoa.’ You have to control your thoughts, because your brain thinks of the worst case scenario, and then you work your way back from there. I don’t think I’ll go through the rest of my life without some worry in some shape or form about this.”
Seeing his daughter go through this struggle really put things into perspective about what is important in life. He took time off from work as needed to help her get to radiation.
Overall, Isabella endured three brain surgeries, six weeks of radiation, and four rounds of chemotherapy. Through it all, she remained strong and said she even laughed when they took her back for surgery.
Isabella noted that one should always tell their loved ones how they feel. It’s unknown what could happen tomorrow or even next week. As for Michael, he echoed her sentiments and said he is now more focused on living in the present than in the future.

Michael Strahan also answered everyone’s burning question about whether or not he is ready to retire. He said he loves everything about Good Morning America. So, he does not plan to retire anytime soon. He loves what he does and loves the team he works with.
However, one day the time will come for him to say goodbye and retire. For now, he shared that if his daughter is okay then he’s okay.
