Shemar Moore & Justin Hartley Reminisce About ‘Young & Restless’
Young & Restless alums Justin Hartley and Shemar Moore recently bonded over their time on the soap opera. Both men are preparing for new seasons of S.W.A.T. and Tracker. However, they aren’t too busy to remember some of the roles that helped kickstart their careers. Here is what they had to say.
Young & Restless Alums Fondly Remember Soap Days
It’s premiere week on CBS and there are a lot of excited fans out there awaiting the return of S.W.A.T. and Tracker. Over the summer, both Shemar and Justin interviewed to promote their shows.
During the conversation, Shemar mentioned the time they both spent on Young & Restless. As fans know, Shemar started his acting career on the CBS soap opera. He played Malcolm Winters. Justin Hartley, on the other hand, spent about two years playing the role of Adam Newman.
Apparently, Shemar did not know that Justin was ever on Y&R. CBS shared a clip of the two men reminiscing about their time on the soap opera.
The video showed Shemar chatting about the eight years he spent on Young & Restless. Then, he asked Justin if it was true that he also played a role on the show. He confirmed that he had, in fact, been on Y&R for two years as Adam.
“Oh, you were in the fancy family,” Shemar joked back. Justin laughed and said, “You were on Y&R. You know exactly what you’re talking about.”
Shemar Moore Took Time To Shout-Out A Y&R Legend
Before moving on, Shemar Moore took a moment to give a shout-out to his late costar, Kristoff St. John. Kristoff played the role of Neil Winters on Young & Restless. He unfortunately passed away in February 2019 due to hypertrophic heart disease.
“My brother, Kristoff, May he rest in Peace. He was a beautiful soul,” Shemar said during the interview.
Justin Hartley also fondly remembered being able to work with Kristoff. Shemar went on to give thanks to Kristoff for assisting him in getting his career off the ground in the early days.

The two Young & Restless alums then refocused on their interviews regarding their new CBS shows. After leaving the soap opera, Shemar Moore went on to play some of the most pivotal roles in his career, including Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds.
He has been playing the role of Sergeant Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson on S.W.A.T. since 2017. The show is now preparing to air its eighth season, which will probably be the series’ final season. It previously escaped two cancellations.
Justin, on the other hand, is newer to his role on Tracker. He plays the role of Colter Shaw and the show is on its second season. Prior to this, he spent six years as Kevin Pearson on This Is Us.
Tracker Season 2 premiered on Sunday and S.W.A.T. Season 8 airs on Friday, October 18 at 8 p.m. EST.
