Next Steps

Tammy Slaton’s Dr., Eric Smith is satisfied with her progress. He said “Tammy has consistently demonstrated her dedication to making sustainable lifestyle changes to maximize the benefits of her surgery,” he continued “I’ve emphasized the importance of making small, daily adjustments to ensure not only her continued progress but also her long-term success. She’s truly committed to her health journey.” It sounds like her hard work is paying off.

The next step for Tammy Slaton is to have skin removal surgery. Dr. Smith usually waits until patients are further along in the process to sign off on skin removal surgery. However, he said that he understands that in Tammy’s case, her extra skin has created mobility concerns.

Dr. Smith explained Tammy has “a significant amount of loose skin that’s affecting her mobility and contributing to other health concerns.” He continued “Given this, it makes sense to consider surgery sooner rather than later, even though she will continue to lose weight in the future.” It seems that her medical team has Tammy’s best interest at heart when making treatment plans.

Mental Health Struggles

Tammy Slaton has been very vocal about the impact of her weight loss journey on her mental health. In a candid Instagram post Ms. Slaton said “The Mental Battle is Real, the mental aspect plays a significant role. Being depressed and having a food addiction, I often ate my feelings, taking out my emotions on food.” Slaton is not alone on her journey because she has her sister Amy Slaton.

Healing starts from the inside, and I’m here to share my journey to show that you are never alone in this fight.” In July 2024 Tammy lost her husband and she has had to focus on healing not only her body but her heart.
