He revealed that his mother’s death wasn’t entirely unexpected, but happened faster than the family thought it would. She passed away this summer after a battle with cancer.

Who Was Jill Cobb?

By the age of 27, she was a mother of five with the daunting challenge of building a future for her young family. In an era where opportunities for women were limited, Jill made the bold decision to pursue higher education, enrolling at Wichita State University. Her determination was sparked by a simple yet powerful realization: she refused to settle for a life of unfulfilling work when she possessed talents that could bring greater personal and financial satisfaction.

From Forensic Science to Global Humanitarian Work

Jill’s time at Wichita State ignited a passion for forensic science. It propelled her towards medical school at the University of Kansas. Her interest in pathology led to roles at the Denver coroner’s office and eventually, the position of coroner for Arapahoe County in Colorado. Yet Jill’s ambitions extended far beyond the borders of her home country.

The late 1980s saw her lending her expertise to Project Hope in Grenada, sparking a dedication to medicine in developing nations. This calling only intensified in the 1990s when Jill and her husband George embarked on a year-long journey of global volunteer work. They ultimately settled in Kansas where Jill continued her pathology work. Chock Chapple still lives in Kansas where he owns and operates an insurance company.
