Diddy Under Investigation By Tupac’s Family, Possible Murder Ties
The family of late musician Tupac Shakur has hired a lawyer to look into what really happened to the late rapper. In particular, there is speculation that music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs might be connected to the rapper’s passing. This is also coming out around the time Diddy is facing other legal issues.
The Attorney Hired Is Known For His Celebrity Clients
Shakur’s family hired attorney Alex Spiro to investigate. During his career, Spiro has represented multiple celebrities, such as Elon Must and MrBeast. He also recently represented actor Alec Baldwin during the Rust movie shooting case.
Shakur was killed in a drive-by-homicide in September 1996 near Las Vegas. While the murder remains unsolved, Duane “Keefe D” Davis had been arrested as a suspect by Las Vegas Police.
As noted by US Magazine, police said during a press conference that Davis wasn’t the gunman, but referred to him as a “shot caller.” Davis has been indicted by a grand jury on one count of murder with a deadly weapon. He pleaded not guilty to the charge and will stand trial in 2025.
According to NewsNation, court documents claimed that Davis alleged Diddy made an offer for up to $1 million for Shakur’s murder. However, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department have said that Diddy wasn’t considered a suspect, as confirmed by People, and has never been charged due to the case.
For his part, Diddy himself has denied these allegations. Back in 2008, Diddy released with following statement with AllHipHop.com: “This story is beyond ridiculous and completely false.”
The Story Comes Out Amidst Diddy’s Other Legal Troubles
In the statement, Diddy also alluded to accusations against rapper Christopher Wallace, also known the Notorious B.I.G. “Neither Biggie nor I had any knowledge of any attack before, during or after it happened. It is a complete lie to suggest that there was any involvement by Biggie or myself.”
The family’s investigation is notable as it comes out while the music mogul is already facing other similar legal issues. Back in September, Diddy was arrested on various charges, including sex trafficking. Diddy is currently awaiting trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Diddy has denied these charges. As noted by US Magazine, his attorney, Marc Agnifilo, also released the following statement: “He is an imperfect person, but he is not a criminal.”
“Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
Shakur, also known by the stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, has been considered one of the most influential rappers of all time. Some of his most notable songs include “So Many Tears,” “To Live & Die in L.A.,” and “California Love.”
