Artem Chigvintsev Shares His Side After Nikki’s Restraining Order
Former Dancing With The Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev is speaking out following his ex-wife’s restraining order on him. Last night, news broke that a judge granted Nikki Garcia a restraining order against Artem, citing domestic violence in front of their son on August 29.
The accusations cited in the order paint an incredibly grim picture of the incident. Now, Artem is publicly sharing his own version of the story.
Artem Chigvintsev’s Version Of The Story Slightly Differs From Nikki Garcia’s
Nikki and Artem’s accounts of the August 29 incident are wildly different. However, they both seem to agree the altercation began over breakfast.
TMZ reports the former WWE superstar grew aggravated about how the dancer cooked an English muffin and a fight broke out. In Nikki’s version, Artem flew into a rage and accused her of turning their four-year-old into a picky eater. She says he’d been angry and unapproachable since learning DWTS didn’t hire him for Season 33. She allegedly begged him to work on his anger problems, but he refused.
In Artem’s version, he claims Nikki kept chastizing him over food options he offered their son.
Next, Artem alleges he started helping their son Matteo get dressed for school. Nikki reportedly became angry over that too and proceeded to throw their son’s shoes at the dancer. He “defended himself,” prompting his wife to scream about a divorce. All this reportedly happened in front of Matteo, who “just stood there frightened and confused.”
Artem claims he took their son and went upstairs in order to remove the little boy from Nikki’s rampage. She followed them and was reportedly violently trying to get to them behind a closed door.
Afterward, Nikki and Artem became entangled in a struggle on the floor. In Nikki’s restraining order, she claims her husband was on top of her and trying to suffocate her.
The Former DWTS Pro Will Not Face Criminal Charges
After the two ended their physical brawl, Artem Chigvintsev reports he dialed 911.
“Do you understand here this is gonna go now Artem? You just ruined my career and you know it,” Nikki allegedly told her husband, as his version of the story goes.
Afterward, authorities arrived at the home and arrested Artem Chigvintsev on domestic violence charges. The Napa Valley District Attorney’s office opted not to press criminal charges against the dancer, citing insufficient evidence.

Needless to say, this is a wildly ugly situation and it seems that things may only get messier from here on out. Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev are working out their divorce and a custody arrangement for young Matteo.
