Brad Fiorenza is a legend for The Challenge, but anyone could see that he struggled mightily in Season 40. This was The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, and Brad admits that he suffered through a traumatic experience while shooting that season of the hit reality TV series.

Here is what Brad said about that specific season.

Brad Fiorenza Suffered “Sleepless Nights” On The Challenge

Brad Fiorenza competed in The Challenge: Battle of the Eras, which was Season 40 of the hit MTV reality TV competition series. He was part of the Era 1 team, along with names like Chris “CT” Tamburello, Rachel Robinson, Mark Long, and Tina Barta.

This was his first full-time appearance since The Challenge: Final Reckoning in Season 32. While Brad had high hopes, things didn’t go well, and he ended up going home after Episode 6. He did last longer than Chris “CT” Tamburello, who went home the episode before him.

When asked what happened, the former The Real World: San Diego (2004) star said he wasn’t in the right headspace when he returned to the show. He said he had been seeing a therapist before his return to MTV, and his castmates knew what he was going through.

“I was unfortunately going through another traumatic experience that was probably a little bit worse than All Stars 4, unfortunately,” Brad said (via YouTube). “I went four full nights, almost five nights, with no sleep due to jet lag.”

Jonna Mannon (The Real World: Cancun) went home in the same episode as Brad. She said things were not easy in the house. It was hard when they got to Vietnam; the house was busy, and everyone was making things difficult. Brad said it was “another challenging season.”

Brad Talks About His Time On The Challenge Season 40

Brad Fiorenza did say that there was one thing that was good about The Challenge: Battle of the Eras. He developed what he called a “meaningful connection:” with Emily Schromm (The Real World: D.C.), who went home in Episode 5.

He said they “hooked up” while filming the show. However, now they are just friends. “We are still really good friends,” Brad said. “We’re not romantically involved anymore, but I will say she’s a beautiful person. She’s a beautiful energy. I appreciate her and the energy she shares with the people around her.”

The Era I team only has two remaining players: Derrick Kosinski and Rachel Robinson.

The Challenge: Battle of the Eras airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on MTV.
