Why Isn’t Cameron Mathison In New Hannah Swensen Mystery?

Sleuthers are gearing up for another Hallmark Mystery that started out as Murder She Baked. This movie is A Sprinkle Of Deceit: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. However, Cameron Mathison is not returning. That is because about a year ago, the General Hospital star signed an exclusive contract with Great American Family. Moreover, he has already filmed a holiday movie with Candace Cameron Bure.

However, Alison Sweeney previously explained to TV Line how they explained Mike missing from the mystery series. Because she has worked in soaps where characters often return, Mike is training for the FBI in Quantico. “That was the decision we made for Mike because I come from a soaps background and I love the philosophy of ‘never say never,’ so you never know where Mike will turn up next.”

Most of all, Sweeney shared, “I love Cameron and I wish him all the best, but he decided to pursue a different career path.”

Therefore, Mathison was not in One Bad Apple: A Hannah Swensen Mystery. Instead, Victor Webster joined the mystery series.

Is Victor Webster A Recast?

When Cameron Mathison defected over to GAF, this left the folks at Hannah Swensen with a problem. Alison Sweeney explained that she was “not a big fan of the recast.” Therefore, she went to the original source. Ali scoured Joanne Fluke’s novels and found just what she was looking for. That guy was Chad Norton.

The best part of Chad Norton was just that he was a prosecutor. Otherwise, there is very little known about him in the books. This allowed them to build a character that was well suited to Victor Webster, as well as an intriguing addition to this mystery series. Chad and Hannah sizzled a bit in One Bad Apple. Hopefully, there will be more of that spark in A Sprinkle of Deceit.

Cameron Mathison Is Going Through Major Changes

In the past year, Cameron Mathison has made some major changes to his life. Firstly, he signed an exclusive with GAF. This means he is no longer on Hannah Swensen. Next, he and his wife, who he had been together for two decades, split. Fans surely wish the best for the actor. Meanwhile, they have a new Hallmark Mystery to look forward to.

A Sprinkle Of Deceit: A Hannah Swensen Mystery premieres on Friday, October 4, at 9 p.m., Eastern, on Hallmark Mystery.
