‘DWTS’ Julianne Hough Shows Sympathy For Anna Delvey
Many Dancing With The Stars viewers felt shocked and appalled at Anna Delvey’s flippant exit from the show. However, hostess Julianne Hough feels some sympathy for the con artist.
Delvey and her pro dance partner Ezra Sosa left at the end of Oscars Night along with Tori Spelling and Pasha Pashkov. She stoked ire from viewers for leaving the show so disrespectfully, but Julianne wants to excuse her behavior.
Julianne Hough Gives Anna Delvey Some Grace & Understanding
After Anna Delvey and Ezra Sosa learned they were eliminated, Julianne Hough asked what they would take away from the experience. Delvey said, “Nothing.”
Her response earned quite a bit of backlash from fans and cast members alike. Judge Carrie Ann Inaba spoke out against Delvey’s answer and said it was a shame.
However, Julianne Hough didn’t seem bothered at all by the answer — even if many others found it completely disrespectful. The 36-year-old actually posted the clip on her Instagram page and called it “iconic.”

In a new interview, Julianne revealed she feels sympathy for Anna Delvey.
“I’m always a big believer in grace and second chances and showing up,” the DWTS hostess shared with PEOPLE after Oscars Night. “Also, it’s hard to go out first in the competition.”
“I also heard somewhere that she was actually being silly and being very literal about that, with her history,” Julianne added, referring to Anna Delvey’s past as a con artist. “So there was that.”
Ezra Sosa seemed to confirm that notion, writing “I think she was referring to anything you’d be taking away ‘physically’” on the Instagram post.
DWTS Viewers Rail Against Anna Delvey’s Rude Answer
Julianne Hough might have found Anna Delvey’s comments hilarious, but her Instagram users certainly didn’t. Many slammed Delvey’s response and criticized Julianne for laughing it off.
Instagram users wrote:
- “She shouldn’t have been on the show! Not iconic!!”
- “Her response is exactly why she is not continuing anymore. Saddest part is she wasted a professional dancer’s time and his dream to continue on the show for this season.”
- “DWTS should be ashamed that they even considered her. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out NOT ICONIC”
- “Not iconic, it was rude. Ezra didn’t deserve this his first season as pro”
