America’s Got Talent ended with a truly feel-good moment when Richard Goodall won the $1 million prize. However, as is the case with all reality competition shows, whenever someone’s preferred choice doesn’t win, they claim the show was rigged. Looking at the evidence, Richard was always going to win, but many fans won’t stop creating conspiracy theories.

Here is what some fans are saying about Richard, and who they thought should have won instead.

America’s Got Talent Fans Call Show Rigged After Finale

Richard Goodall won the $1 million grand prize and this year’s America’s Got Talent championship prize. It was a huge moment, and a lot of people posted online that they didn’t have a dry eye in their house when he won. However, on reality TV, when one person wins, another loses.

No matter how good the winners are, there will be people who claim a show is rigged if the rest of the voters don’t agree with what they wanted. This happened for fans who were cheering for the amazing dog act with Roni Sagi and Rhythm. Instead of realizing that some people connected better with Richard, many fans claimed the voting was rigged.

  • “Congrats to Richard.. BUT he is an average singer, and that’s it, in my opinion. Roni Sagi & Rhythm deserve the win. It’s an actual talent, and you can’t compare it to an average singer.”
  • “Should have been Roni Sagi & Rhythm, It takes talent to put on a show with a dog, whereas Richard sounded the same every week.”
  • “We won’t be hearing from him again. I am so sick of these so called talent shows adding singers. We have enough singing competition shows on tv.”

Richard Had A Huge America’s Got TYalent Advantage

Fans who think that Richard Goodall winning was “rigged” voting were not paying attention to the evidence around them. While these fans might have thought everyone should vote the same as them, the truth is that Richard had almost no chance of losing based on his popularity and the numbers.

When everyone performed in the finals, America’s Got Talent posted all the performances for people to watch over and over again. As great as Roni Sagi and her dog Rhythm were, they had 937,000 views. That is a lot, and is why they came in second place.

Richard Goodall had 2.7 million views of his performance on YouTube. That is three times more than Roni and Rhythm, and no one else came close to either of them. The comments under Richard’s video showed why he won the competition as well:

  • “Richard Goodall represents AMERICA. He represents the hard-working people of this country with a dream, no matter what age!”
  • “Richard Goodall is what we all need right now. He is a true hero for everyone.”

While not everyone wanted Richard Goodall to win, enough people did, and that is why he won America’s Got Talent. It wasn’t rigged. It was just the right performer at the right time, and he connected with the voters.
