This year, the competition is getting intense on Dancing With The Stars. There are plenty of eager frontrunners and several in the middle of the pack who are dramatically improving from week to week. Retired NFL player Danny Amendola and his dance partner Witney Carson are gaining a lot of attention.

This week, the pair earned a 21/30 for their Jive to “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins. But more than that, they got the internet buzzing.

When the cast list first came out, few thought Danny Amendola would be a top contender on DWTS Season 33. But now, many think he has what it takes to go the distance.

Danny Amendola Is Aware Of What Fans Think Of Him Online

Right now, Danny Amendola is considered the dark horse of the competition. While many weren’t sure about him initially, he’s quickly winning over the hearts of fans all over the world. After Oscars Night, DWTS fans flocked to X to share thirsty tweets about him.

However, he’s taking the comments in stride.

“I ignore the noise,” Amendola told Us Weekly. “I do not fuel or believe the hype. And I’m just worried about dancing. That’s it.”

The retired NFL star also revealed judge Bruno Tonioli personally praised him after his performance.

“He said, ‘You killed it, man.’ That’s it,” he told the publication. “Bruno’s the man.”

Witney Carson Keeps The NFL Player On His Toes

As a former football player, Danny Amendola is no stranger to hard work. However, the 38-year-old revealed he’s feeling his age in the rehearsal room. His joints are bothering him as he and Witney train for upcoming episodes.

“We’re playing on grass, so it’s a little softer. The hardwood is, like, I’m icing up,” Amendola continued. “I’m definitely feeling the age at this point. But it’s fun to get out there, sweat, and have fun.”

However, he couldn’t be happier to have Witney Carson as his partner.

“She’s a boss,” he added. “I have plenty of room for improvement. We’re going to try to get better next week.”
