The Golden Bachelorette star, Joan Vassos is showing how she has fun with the process of dating multiple suitors at once. While the upcoming episode teases a fantastic first date, Joan doesn’t sugarcoat that it is also hard. She reflects on watching the premiere and the feelings that bubbled up. Furthermore, she discusses just how difficult it is to date at her age.

Joan Vassos Talks About Watching The Premiere

In an interview with Extra, Joan Vassos discusses how she felt watching The Golden Bachelorette season premiere. She was in New York for her Broadway debut in Aladdin so she celebrated with a small group. Although she only had a few people at her watch party in her hotel, she felt phenomenal FaceTiming into several other parties. Furthermore, her 92-year-old mom got to host a big party at the nursing home and was thrilled. And she was getting many friends and family predicting who she would choose. But she reflects on the highs and lows.

Revisiting meeting the men, she said it was helpful when they arrived with unique entrances which stuck out in her mind. While she gave her first rose to Keith Gordon for standing out with his “old beater” creaking up the driveway, she loved how safe she felt with him. However, her funniest memory was when David’s horse took off.

Joan Vassos Talks About Drawbacks

Although Joan Vassos says she is happy with how The Golden Bachelorette season went, she shares some drawbacks. When asked what she is looking for in a new man, she knows that he needs to be focused on family. Notably, she admits that geographical challenges are an issue, much like Theresa Nist and Gerry Turner ran into with their marriage. However, she has decided that she can be on her own some of the time. Instead of looking for a man who is always by her side, she recognizes they may just be together for the significant events in each other’s lives. Unfortunately, having a desire to be close to a man who is close to his family would require some sacrifices.

Joan Vassos A Great Group Of Men

Furthermore, Joan Vassos also teases that Gerry Turner “wrote the book” on how to do the Golden series. After the premiere, it was clear that Gerry would be part of Joan’s season. She also nudges that he is a “Smart guy that knows how to do this,” as she talks about his return to the show. She didn’t confirm or deny when asked if he might join the suitors. However, Joan has twenty men left to sift through and figure out who will be her best match. Among the suitors, the Extra interview also points out that Joan “willed” Kelsey Anderson’s dad, Mark Anderson, to be part of her contestant pool. At the finale of The Bachelor, she texted producers and said she wanted him to be part of the show if she got to be The Golden Bachelorette.

What Should Fans Expect?

Before Joan Vassos ended her interview, she was asked about what Bachelor Nation fans should expect from the rest of the season. Joan says, “So it’s not a drama-filled season. So if you are looking for drama, you might be disappointed. But I don’t think you are going to be because it is filled with such genuine emotion.” Although fans most likely are looking forward to a clean break after watching Jenn Tran’s trainwreck finale. Furthermore, The Golden Bachelorette seems to be highlighting the background stories of Joan and all her contestants.

But Joan Vassos says it was a journey together with the wonderful men. She says, “And the way that we all kinda did it together.” Further explaining, “The twenty-four guys and myself helped each other through these weird things we didn’t know that we would be feeling.” Additionally, she expresses that by her age and the ages of the men on the show, they have been through a lot.

She says, “You got to imagine that whoever is there, got there in their 50s and 60s and single, not by things went perfectly in their life. You know life doesn’t go perfectly and something has happened that they are this age and single.”

But Joan wants to help others understand that it is okay to move on no matter what their past includes. She says, “We have those conversations and they are important. I hope they resonate outside of Bachelor Nation and outside of the mansion and people get that it’s hard dating at this age, but it is so worth it if you really want to find love. That it’s worth the struggles that you go through.” Without a doubt, all of their stories have many challenges and they are strong as they fight through their past. Joan felt like she lost her future when her husband passed away, but she wants to regain it with someone new.

What Would You Ask A Fortune Teller?

And Joan Vassos was cleverly asked what she would want to know from a fortune teller, linking to her debut as the Aladdin Fortune Teller. Undeniably, the sneaky question caught her off guard. But she says, “I would ask about love. If I was going to have a second chance at a great love. I would love to know about that.” Admittedly, she says she is a little afraid of fortune tellers and isn’t sure what she believes. However, she knows she wouldn’t want to hear anything bad so she wouldn’t go see one. She confirms she comes out of the season happy, saying, “Big smile here.”
