Artem Chigvintsev Not Facing Criminal Charges After DV Arrest
As TV Shows Ace previously shared, police arrested Artem Chigvintsev on domestic violence charges last month. In the following weeks, fans worried for the safety and well-being of his wife, Nikki Garcia, and their son, Matteo. Thankfully, it seems that they are well. Nikki reportedly stayed in their Napa Valley home while Artem stayed with a friend after receiving bail.
After Nikki Garcia filed for divorce, the public watched and waited to see what would happen with Artem Chigvintsev’s charges.
Now, sources indicate he will not face criminal charges in the matter.
Artem Chigvintsev Won’t Receive Criminal Charges
On August 29, TMZ broke the news over Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest for domestic violence charges. He and his wife Nikki Garcia just celebrated their second wedding anniversary days prior.
According to sources close to the family, the couple could be quite volatile with each other.
Nearly four weeks after Artem’s arrest, officials announced he will not receive criminal charges.
“Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley announced today that her office has declined to file criminal charges against Artem Chigvintsev, age 42, in connection with his arrest on suspicion of felony domestic violence,” an official statement read, as reported by The New York Post. “The decision to not file charges against Mr. Chigvintsev was made after a thorough review of the criminal investigation and careful evaluation of the evidence presented to the DA’s Office.”

“While we take every arrest seriously and stand firmly against domestic violence, we have an ethical obligation to only file charges when supported by the evidence,” the statement continues. “We are required to prove any and every criminal charge ‘beyond a reasonable doubt’ which is the highest standard in the American criminal justice system. If the available evidence doesn’t rise to this level of proof, then we cannot ethically file charges.”
The Dancer’s Attorneys Praise The Decision
TMZ spoke with Artem’s attorneys after the decision. They felt elated about the news.
“Mr. Chigvintsev has maintained his innocence from the beginning. He is grateful that the district attorney accurately assessed what took place, and determined he should not be charged,” the lawyers told the publication. “[Artem] enjoys tremendous support from the community, and requests privacy for the pending divorce matter. He loves his son, wants the best possible for him, and looks forward to the next chapter in his life professionally and as a father.”
In the aftermath of Artem’s arrest, he received support from his fellow dancers, Gleb Savchenko and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Many other DWTS pros remained silent over the matter. DWTS execs reportedly didn’t invite Artem back for Season 33 before the arrest happened.
Nikki Garcia continuously asks for privacy as the family undergoes this challenging situation.
