Joey Graziadei Defends Anna Delvey’s ‘DWTS’ Performance
Fake heiress and felon Anna Delvey got a lot of hate for her Dancing With The Stars debut but Bachelor Joey Graziadei came to her defense. Keep reading to find out what he had to say about the controversial star.
ABC & Anna Delvey Roasted For DWTS Appearance
Dancing With The Stars always has one controversial contestant every season. The show welcomed convicted scammer Anna Delvey for Season 33. Most people got to know her background with Netflix’s Inventing Anna series starring Julia Garner as the fake heiress turned felon.
Anna Delvey was charged with multiple felons, including grand larceny for defrauding high-profile New Yorkers. She served four years in prison before her release. She’s currently on house arrest while awaiting deportation. However, she is allowed to compete on the ABC dance competition as long as she wears an ankle monitor.
DWTS fans are not happy about the casting and they were even unhappier about her debut dance. She performed a Cha Cha with new pro Ezra Sosa to Sabrina Carpenter’s hit song “Espresso.”
Viewers took to the show’s official Instagram to voice their displeasure:
- Ankle monitors are not iconic. She should not be on this show.
- Yall did Ezra soooo dirty pairing him with her.
- This is so tacky and screams desperation. SURELY there is another star that could’ve been on this season instead of her…
- All for ratings and zero regard for integrity. Gives me the ICK
- She has zero personality, everyone else was fabulous
- She showed no emotion, just a blank look on her face the entire time. She should be happy she’s out of the house!
- She’s emotionless, detached and has zero personality. Bad choice for an “entertainment” show.
Anna Delvey received a score of 18 out of 30.
Joey Graziadei Defends Her Performance
Anna Delvey is a bust with viewers, but Bachelor star Joey Graziadei defended her during an interview with the U.S. Sun days before the DWTS premiere.
Joey is also competing on this season. He earned a 21 out of 30 for his Cha Cha with partner Jenna Johnson. He told the Sun that he’d met Anna “a few times” and thought she was great.
However, his main focus was on himself. “I have not had a lot of interactions. But my mindset right now is I’m just focusing on how not to make an idiot [of] myself in a few days so that is where my head is,” he said.
Joey Graziadei added that he’s “happy” for all the celebrities who got the opportunity to compete on DWTS this season.
