Emily Gold has sadly passed away at the age of seventeen. She competed on AGT this season along with her high school dance team and wowed the audience as well as the judges. Simon Cowell praised the Los Osos dance team and their routine, even though they did not make it beyond the quarterfinals:

“It was absolutely brilliant. What I loved about this was first of all the energy. I think what I just saw is everything a great school should be doing, which is encouraging talent and friendship.”

Moreover, Simon gave the team the highest of praises:

“It reminded me of seeing the High School Musical movie and thinking every kid should go to a school like that.”

This was the most amazing compliment and, in August, Emily chatted with People about her time on the reality competition:

“When I’m performing, I’m really thinking about all the corrections because we get corrections up until five minutes before we go on stage. So to really just think about all those so that we apply them is my biggest priority on stage.”

She did not doubt that she would be able to balance both school and being on the show, which concludes at the end of September. Tragically, Emily won’t get to see the finale. She passed away on Friday, September 13th, 2024. The cause of death was suicide. Per a statement from Officer Rodrigo Jimenez of the California Highway Patrol Public Information: “officers from the California Highway Patrol Rancho Cucamonga area responded to a pedestrian down in lanes.” Officer Jimenez added:

“When the officers arrived, they located a female, 17 year old, who was struck by at least one other vehicle in the carpool lane on eastbound 210. The female did succumb to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.”
