‘Wheel Of Fortune’ Edits Episodes To Remove Bad Stretches
Wheel of Fortune started its new season this last week with Ryan Seacrest as the new host. It was the first time someone other than Pat Sajak hosted the popular game show in four decades. The movie received mixed reviews but huge ratings. There was also a fan who attended the tapings and talked about editing.
The fan in attendance said several spins are edited out of the final episodes. Here is what they had to say.
Wheel of Fortune Fan Says Show Edits Out Bad Spins
A Reddit user was at the tapings for the first week’s Wheel of Fortune episodes and had some interesting comments about the final product. According to the Redditor, they were at the show and explained why Ryan Seacrest was so exasperated. They said there were a lot of bad spins and guesses, all edited out of the final airing of the episode.
The Redditor even listed the real guesses of one of the puzzles, and not all the spins and guesses were included in the TV show. In one game, nine spins and guesses were edited out in the “Same Name” round. That round started with a player guessing “T” before hitting Bankrupt. The next player guessed “S,” which was not there. The next was a Lose a Turn.
After this, the next player got an “R” but then missed with an “N.” The next hit bankrupt, and the next guessed “L,” but it wasn’t there. Then, the next two players both hit a Bankrupt. The next missed with “P,” and the next guessed “S,” which was already guessed. The next three missed (“G,” “K,” and “M”), and the next hit a Lose a Turn.
Strangely, the first two Bankrupts and the last Lose a Turn were the same player (Promise). What makes it strange is that the game picked up after that. Promise, despite all the bad luck, won when she solved “Birthday & Credit Card.”
What Happened With The Wheel Of Fortune Editing?
The Redditor said they were at the taping and took notes of the guesses and turns. They shared the video to show how Wheel of Fortune often edits the show to speed up the games and remove bad luck streaks during games.
They also said the show went late, and there were moments like this in all the taping sets. One commenter wrote, “So sometimes when we shout “Why isn’t anyone calling (insert common letter)?” The calling of that letter may have simply been edited out. Interesting and something I have never thought about.”
