Britney Spears fans have been counting down the days until her oldest son, Jayden, turns 18 so she could stop paying child support. Jayden turned 18 on September 12, but the Womanizer singer must keep sending those checks.

Britney Pays Kevin A Massive Amount In Child Support

Kevin, who also shares son Sean Preston, 18, with Britney, was originally supposed to receive $20,000 monthly. In 2018, that amount was doubled to $40,000 a month. Mainly because both sons spent most of their time with the former backup dancer. In August, the amount was reduced back to $20,000. While Britney’s fans celebrate that there is an end in sight when it comes to her shelling out the money, Kevin is likely in a somber mood. A source told the Daily Mail that when the payments end, Kevin will struggle to maintain the lifestyle he has enjoyed for the past 17 years. “The amount of money Britney has given Kevin for the two boys is extraordinary. It is enough for any man to support an entire family, which is what she believes he has done,” the source explained.

Why Britney Spears Still Has To Pay Child Support After Jayden’s Birthday

When Britney and her baby-daddy and ex, Kevin Federline, worked out their child custody agreement, they agreed she would pay child support until Jayden  James turned 18 or he finished high school, whichever came later.

While Jayden is now legally an adult, he is still enrolled in high school.

Britney’s younger son is set to graduate early in November, so her child support payments should end then.

Britney Spears Has Had A Rocky Relationship With Her Boys

After her very public meltdown, during which she locked herself in a room with Jayden, Kevin was awarded sole custody in 2008.

Britney’s penchant for posting sexy pictures on social media further strained her relationship with her boys.

In 2022, Jayden publicly criticized his mother’s parenting skills.

“I think Mom has struggled giving us both attention and showing us equal love. I don’t think she showed enough to Preston, and I feel really bad for that,” he told The Daily Mail.

Now, both the singer and her ex are hoping that will change.

Over the summer, Kevin’s lawyer confirmed that both boys had spoken with her on Mother’s Day.

Soon after, a source close to Britney said she looked forward to spending more time with her sons when they were ready.

Britney is currently enjoying the massive success of her memoir The Woman In Me, which is now being turned into a feature film.
