Ripa Opens Up About Last Conversation With Shannen Doherty
Kelly Ripa recently got candid about the last conversation she had with the late Shannen Doherty. Doherty recently passed in July following a lengthy battle with breast cancer. Doherty knew that the end was drawing near, and even that was difficult to grasp for many.
Touching on her final conversation with the Charmed actress, Ripa said: “I always had an idea in my mind as to who might be a good match with Shannen. But the last conversation, she actually said to me, ‘I’m kind of a tough sell because I don’t have a lot of time left.’”
Kelly Ripa continued, saying: “So that, I think, is what I took away, that I was crushed that she seemed to know that her time was very, very limited.”
Kelly Ripa Reveals What Was So Painful About Shannen Doherty’s Death
Ripa went into greater detail about what made Shannen Doherty’s death so tough to process, and more. Beyond both being in the public eye, Ripa and Doherty had a connection that stretched back decades, so this loss completely hit close to home for Ripa.
Ripa said: “I will say, she was telling me about her treatments and it was so brutal and painful. It sounds very glib but the fact she’s no longer in pain — physical pain — provides everyone that knew and loved her with a little peace.”
Ripa went on, adding: “It was just painful because we’re the same age, we grew up together, and I always thought she got the rawest deal of anyone in show business. I still believe that. I stand by that.”
Shannen Doherty’s passing continues to affect all those who knew and loved her. Kelly Ripa is just one example of someone whose life changed forever since then.
