Conor McGregor Ditches UFC Return, Doing This Instead
One of the biggest questions UFC fans have when it comes to Conor McGregor is whether or not he will ever make a return to the octagon to compete in the sport that made him a household name. However, based on the most recent updates making the rounds, it looks like he is doing something else instead.
Conor McGregor Has Been Out Of The Octagon A Long Time
One of Conor McGregor’s last notable wins in the UFC was all the way back in January of 2020, when he defeated Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone by TKO. Following that victory, McGregor had two defeats in 2021 at the hands of Dustin Poirier.
Conor was going to fight against Michael Chandler in 2024 as part of UFC 303. However, that fight never came to fruition. McGregor has been dealing with injuries for the last few years, and the pandemic also took a shot at his momentum. The more time passes, the more fans wonder if he will ever make a return to the octagon to compete.
McGregor Seems To Have His Eyes On A Different Prize
Rather than suit up to fight opponents in the UFC, it looks like McGregor is looking to throw himself into an entirely new kind of fight. He wants to run for President of Ireland. This is a position that he not only believes he is well suited for, but, also a position that he feels he can make some positive change in if he were to actually win the office.
Of course, this would not be the first time that a high-profile athlete ran for public office like this in their home country. Celebrated boxer Manny Pacquiao ran to be the president of the Philippines in 2022. He ultimately lost the race, but, ever the confident individual, Conor McGregor seems to have no doubt that he can secure the office for his home country of Ireland.
UFC Legend Makes His Political Aspirations Clear
Taking to social media recently, Conor McGregor did not mince words while declaring his intentions. He said: “As President I hold the power to summon the Dáil as well as dissolve it. So as I said before, I would have all the answers the people of Ireland seek from these thieves of the working man, these disrupters of the family unit, these destructors of small businesses, and on and on and on!”

The enigmatic fighter continued, saying: “These charlatans in their positions of power would be summoned to answer to the people of Ireland and I would have it done by day end. Or I would be left with no choice but to dissolve the Dáil entirely. Stop the train until. The people of Ireland deserve the answers they seek. Point blank. This would be my power as President. I know very well. Ireland needs an active President employed wholly by the people of Ireland. It is me. I am the only logical choice. 2025 is upcoming…”
