The Valley Jax Taylor Opens Up About Life-Changing Diagnosis

When Jax Taylor’s marriage to Brittany Cartwright fell apart, he should have been doing something to fix it. That is, if he wanted to and he claimed he did. In the Season 1 finale of The Valley, Jax said he was going to see a therapist which made Brittany happy and have some hope but he never ended up going. It appeared he only made the appointment for the show with no real plan of doing anything. Brittany had made it clear there was a lot Jax needed to work on but that was not happening.

As Season 2 was taking off, Jax entered an inpatient mental health treatment facility. He claimed he was doing it for their son, Cruz but it was also alleged he was doing it to keep his job with Bravo. Jax was there for less than a month when he left and returned to filming the show. Within days, he was served divorce papers from Brittany but the show had to go on and they kept filming. Now, Jax is sharing what he learned while in treatment via his Instagram along with his life-changing diagnosis.

Not only does he have Bipolar Disorder but the Vanderpump Rules alum was also diagnosed with PTSD. Jax Taylor noted that he always knew something was off with him but he was not sure what. Now, he has a clearer picture of it and is still understandably scared. He has no idea what the future holds but he is learning more every day.

Fan Support

Jax Taylor thanked those who reached out to him during this time and fans sent in a lot of kind words of encouragement:

  • Bi-polar is a beast. Happy you are getting help. Take care of yourself
  • Very brave to share. As a therapist please make sure you keep up with your medication. Taking it faithfully and not missing a dose is extremely important. Good luck!
  • My dad was bi polar and never received help. It was extremely hard for my brother and I. I applaud you for seeking support. You kids will be so much better for this choice you made. 👏

Of course, some criticized him and wanted Jax to share more about his past trauma. They also believed he was just seeking sympathy but he is brave for trying to fix what is broken.
