Cheryl Burke Speaks Out After Artem Chigvintsev’s Arrest
Former Dancing With The Stars pro Cheryl Burke is speaking out after Artem Chigvintsev’s arrest for domestic violence.
TMZ broke the shocking news yesterday, reporting that police arrested Artem in Napa Valley. At the moment, not much information is publicly available. At the time of writing, the other person Artem reportedly assaulted isn’t known. However, police documentation indicates it was either his spouse, Nikki Garcia, or someone else who lived in their residence.
It’s a devastating situation for everyone involved. Artem’s friends and coworkers from Dancing With The Stars were also taken aback by the news. Now, Cheryl Burke has broken her silence over the situation.
Cheryl Burke Hopes For Everyone’s Safety After Artem Chigvintsev’s Arrest
Cheryl Burke and Artem Chigvintsev spent many years on Dancing With The Stars together. They shared a close friendship through all the years of shows and tours together.
That’s particularly why Cheryl feels so caught off-guard by the arrest. This isn’t the Artem she knew.
“Artem, someone who I have grown up with, who actually … we used to live together in my family’s home in the Bay Area,” the dancer said in a recent TikTok. “I get kind of emotional.”
Cheryl went on to confirm that he won’t be part of DWTS Season 33. Many of the details about his arrest are still unknown, but it’s an incredibly difficult situation regardless.
“My heart goes out to everyone involved. This is really hard for me because he is my family, and I don’t know what to say here other than I hope everybody’s okay,” Cheryl continued. “Domestic violence and Artem don’t really … that’s why it’s so shocking.”

She turned off the comments on her TikTok and shared resources where victims of domestic violence can receive assistance.
Old Reports Of The Dancer’s Violent Behavior Resurface
After winning DWTS Season 29 with Kaitlyn Bristowe, Artem Chigvintsev went on to be a fan-favorite dancer. But before his run on DWTS, he appeared on the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing. Amid his arrest this week, old reports of his violent behavior have bubbled back to the surface.
“He would look at my feet and just kick me or shove me,” a former dancer partner, Fern Britton, said about their time together on Strictly. “He was like, ‘Shut your face. Go home before I kill you.’ I would say, ‘Oh please just kill me, it would be easier.’ Or what was his other one? ‘If you go for a cup of tea now, I will blow off like an atomic bomb.’ I thought, well I won’t correct him on that one.”
