Leah McSweeney’s Attorney Shocked Andy Cohen Still Has Job
Bravo is in the middle of some major controversy right now as the network attempts to dodge multiple allegations and lawsuits. Leah McSweeney‘s attorney has weighed in on what’s going on and says they’re shocked that Andy Cohen hasn’t been fired yet. Could the Bravo exec be facing the chopping block soon? Here’s everything that has been revealed so far.
Bravo Claims Andy Cohen Did Nothing Wrong
Earlier this week, a video of Andy Cohen asking a Bravo star to watch him have sex was published. Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Brandi Glanville revealed that an obviously drunk Andy texted her an inappropriate clip.
In the video, Andy was with Below Deck star Kate Chastain. He tells Brandi that he plans to have sex with Kate later in the evening and invites her to watch.
Back in February, when Brandi’s allegations first surfaced, Andy Cohen apologized for sending the video. However, he said that it was “clearly in jest.”
Since then, Bravo has investigated the incident and said it found no wrongdoing on behalf of the Watch What Happens Live host. He hasn’t faced any kind of disciplinary action and attorneys are shocked that he still has a job.
Fellow Real Housewives star Leah McSweeney is currently suing the network. The uncovering of the video Andy Cohen sent to Brandi Glanville is helping back her case. Leah’s attorney Gary Adelman said that he is shocked that Andy still has a job at this point.
“[Usually] if a person associated or employed with a company… sent a video like that to one of his employees, he would be immediately terminated,” he said. Furthermore, it goes to show everyone that Bravo really doesn’t care about their employees.
“It buttresses our claims and sends the message that [Bravo executives] ‘think they are above the employment law’ and really do not care at all about their employees,” Leah’s attorney continued. “Especially the women who have made these show successful.”
Bravo Attempting To Use First Amendment To Fight Suits
Bravo motioned to dismiss Leah McSweeney’s lawsuit and she filed a response this week, backing up her claims. She has stated that the producers of Real Housewives push the cast members to do things they don’t want to. In her case, the production team tried to get her to fall off the wagon to increase viewership.
She also alleges that Andy Cohen sexually harassed her. According to Leah, Andy talked about her breast implants and her sexual history.
Attorneys for Bravo have called Leah McSweeney’s claims “threadbare.” They also state that her lawsuit “impermissibly seeks to abridge Defendants’ First Amendment rights to tailor and adjust the messages they wish to convey in their creative works, including through cast selection and other creative decisions.”
In their response, Leah’s attorneys said that it seems like Bravo thinks the First Amendment “provides them the unfettered right to discriminate against their employees” and that “the First Amendment does not immunize [them] from liability simply because [they] claim to be in the business of creative expression.”
