Jane Kilcher Shares Heartbreaking Loss Of ATLF Cast Member
On Friday, Jane Kilcher took to Facebook to share some devastating news with her followers. The Alaska: The Last Frontier star posted various pictures of her dog, Willow. In the caption, she revealed that Willow has passed away.
“My beloved girl Willow has passed on after 12 years,” she wrote. “Never have I bonded so much with an animal and never have I suffered a loss like her. RIP.”
Photos included a grown Willow lying in the snow and standing on the front porch, guarding the house. Another shot showed Willow standing next to Jane Kilcher’s much smaller black pup. The post also included a few adorable throwback photos of Willow as a puppy.
It is clear that Jane and Willow had a special bond, something viewers got to see some of on the show. In the comments, Jane shared that Willow was a 140-pound Alaskan Malamute. She said that she was “almost” like a cast member on Alaska: The Last Frontier.

Fans flocked to the comments to offer their condolences for Jane’s loss. “So very sorry for your loss of your sweet Willow!” one person wrote. “I remember seeing her on the show! She was so beautiful! Sending you hugs and prayers.”
Another fan remembered a special moment shown on the Discovery Channel show involving Willow. “It hurts loosing our 4 legged children,” the fan commented. “Willow was such a sweet soul! I remember when you were teaching her how to pull a sled. Just made her so happy.”
A third person commented, “I remember her well. Such a beautiful dog! I’m so sorry.” Others commented that they could empathize with Jane Kilcher, sharing their own experiences with the loss of their fur babies.
Last year, the Alaska: The Last Frontier alum shared another loss with fans. In July, she revealed that she was getting divorced. “Atz Lee is divorcing me and it is very unfortunate but I cannot control it,” she wrote in a post on Facebook. She went on to say it felt like she was losing her best friend, but that life would go on.
In addition to her appearances on Alaska: The Last Frontier, Jane Kilcher has also starred in the Discovery Channel show Bering Sea Gold. Season 18 of the show premiered on Friday, August 18.
