Richard Simmons Seemed Okay Just Days Before His Death
Sadly, Richard Simmons was found dead on July 13 by his loyal housekeeper, Teresa Reveles. It was just one day after celebrating his 76th birthday. Undeniably, he had big plans to share his story with the world and seemingly he wasn’t ready to leave just yet. But Teresa has spoken about Richard taking a tumble and how she urged him to get medical treatment. Now, sweet Richard’s brother, Lenny Simmons is updating the public about the coroner’s report.
Richard Simmons’ Brother Reveals Fitness Guru’s Cause Of Death
On the morning of Wednesday, Aug. 21, the Simmons family spokesperson gave an update about Richard Simmons’ passing. Notably, Tom Estey, gave details from Lenny Simmons, saying: “This morning, Richard Simmons’ brother Lenny, received a call from the LA Coroner’s office. The Coroner informed Lenny that Richard’s death was accidental due to complications from recent falls and heart disease as a contributing factor. The toxicology report was negative other than medication Richard had been prescribed. The Family wishes to thank everyone for their outpouring of love and support during this time of great loss.” While the case had remained open, it was relieving for the family to have some answers.
Initially, Cause Of Death Wasn’t Included
Even though the Los Angeles Police Department reported “there is no foul play,” the case remained open. Initially, the cause of his death required additional testing before assigning the reason. Likewise, with the report of Richard falling, it was necessary to take the steps to understand what happened. Furthermore, the family spokesperson, Tom Estey, adds “The world has truly lost an angel.”
Unfortunately, the fall seemingly took its toll on Richard Simmons. Reportedly, just two days before his death he was sharing how he was planning to celebrate his 76th birthday. In his lighthearted manner, he said he would blow out his candle, but added, “The candle will probably be on a zucchini.” Further jokingly reminding viewers in his spry way, “You know, I’m a vegetarian.” Additionally, he shared, “I feel good! I am grateful that I’m here, that I am alive for another day. I’ll spend my birthday doing what I do every day, which is to help people.”
