Julianne Hough Details Breakup With Ryan Seacrest
Ryan Seacrest just ended a three-year relationship with Aubrey Paige. It looked like the two were going to last but sadly, they parted ways. He is a very busy man as he not only has his own radio show but also hosts American Idol and was named Pat Sajak’s replacement on Wheel of Fortune. Though fans of the game show are skeptical about him taking over, he is extremely ready to show what he’s got and prove them wrong. In the midst of all of the WoF chatter and him getting ready to debut, Ryan is thrust into the spotlight for another reason.
Julianne Hough is talking about their three-year-long relationship which lasted from 2010 to 2013. According to Page Six, the DWTS host shared why it did not work between the two. Now, Ryan and Julianne got together when she was initially beginning her career. However, Ryan was already a superstar in his own right. She explained the logistics of that on Dax Shepherd’s Armchair Expert podcast:
“The rug was swept up from underneath me, and I was just flying, and I was experiencing things that I didn’t even know existed. But then I had this insecurity that I was like, I don’t ever want anybody to think that I’m with him for this reason.”
Julianne wanted the romance to be seen as genuine and pure and not as a way to get further in Hollywood. Dax, who is married to Kristen Bell, completely understood how the dancer felt. Due to her trepidations, Julianne Hough ended up going the extra mile:
“I overcompensated, was malleable to fit into exactly what somebody needed me to be for them to be happy. And what I’ve realized over the years is I don’t know if I’ve ever truly been in love with someone, but I have loved the feeling of being loved. And so let me be what that needs to be so that I can be loved.”
Ryan’s Insecurity
Julianne Hough admitted Ryan Seacrest had been used in the past. Therefore, she did not want him to think that was why she was with him. Then, they decided to end things and that was a questionable decision because of who he was:
“I remember when I decided to break things off, I had a lot of these Brentwood moms and producers in that world that were like, ‘What are you doing?’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ They’re like, ‘Your life is completely set up.’ And I was, like, ‘But I didn’t build it.’”
Yes, she could have stayed in the romance and had all the things handed to her but that was not what would have fed Julianne’s soul. She went on to get married four years later but that ended in divorce. Her career did succeed without Ryan by her side so deciding to end the relationship was just fine.
