‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Return For Owen & Teddy Won’t Be Easy
The next season of Grey’s Anatomy has a lot of controversy to deal with. In the last season, Meredith Grey took things into her own hands when the hospital tried to censor her research into Alzheimer’s. When two other doctors covered things up for her, they were both fired.
However, there is no way Owen and Teddy will remain gone for long, although actor Kevin McKidd said it won’t be easy when they return to Grey Sloan Memorial. Here is what McKidd said about his character’s journey.
Owen & Teddy ‘Fighting’ For Their Future On Grey’s Anatomy
In Grey’s Anatomy Season 20, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) was doing her Alzheimer’s research. However, hospital head Catherine Fox (Debbiue Allen) ordered her to stop and refused to allow her to release it. Grey refused to give in to the pressure and released it independently, which caused a huge problem at Grey Sloan Memorial.
It was worse because Meredith’s fellow doctors, Owen (Kevin McKidd) and Teddy (Kim Raver), knew what was happening and helped cover it up. Angry at Meredith for disobeying her directive, Catherine fired both Owen and Teddy. The good news is they are not leaving the show and will return.
“It’s a rocky road for them to come back to the hospital,” McKidd said (via PEOPLE). “It’s a lot of fun when it happens.” He admitted that he can’t say too much about things to keep from spoiling the show. However, he said it “causes some tension between Teddy and Owen as well.”
Grey’s Anatomy Entering A New Era
The long-running medical drama enters a new world with Grey’s Anatomy Season 21. The show had to make some cost-cutting decisions to get the new season, and there is also a chance it will have fewer episodes this year.
However, McKidd is happy with some of the changes on the show. “It feels like [Meg Marinis]’s freshened us all up as characters. She’s given us all new things to sort of work on and work through as characters. As long as that continues, I’m happy.”
He pointed out that he has been on the show for 15 years, and he said he has never been anywhere for 15 years before. “It feels like family now,” McKidd said. “It would be a lot to walk away from. So I’m very happy there.”
