Andy Cohen Asks Judge To Stop Alum’s Lawsuit

Bravo executive and host, Andy Cohen has asked a judge to stop a RHONY alum’s lawsuit for the time being. He and the network have faced suits or the threat of them which has been draining, to say the least. Yet, they have continued to fight and speak their truths but what is going on with the one Andy wants to halt? Keep reading for more details.

Andy Cohen Asks Judge To Stop Alum’s Lawsuit

No matter what has been thrown at Andy Cohen, he is lucky to have the support of fellow Bravolebs. He has been working with housewives for so many years that they were ready and willing to jump to his defense. They spoke highly of his character and gave amazing testimonials. This included Tamra Judge who was fired by Bravo and got into it with Andy during the RHOC Season 17 reunion. Unfortunately, Andy has one lawsuit he has to contend with and it was brought on by RHONY alum Leah McSweeney. 

She not only sued Andy but also Bravo Media, NBC Universal Media, Warner Bros. Discovery, Shed Media US, and various producers. In her suit, she maintained they knew she was sober but encouraged alcohol use. Additionally, she had mental health issues that were not accommodated. Lastly, Leah alleged Andy partied and did cocaine with Bravolebs. In return, they would get a favorable edit but Andy, of course, has denied all of this. Now, according to People, Andy is asking the judge to temporarily stop the suit but why?

Andy Cohen wants this to happen as he has filed a motion to dismiss back in May 2024. So, while that is in process, he feels everything should be on hold when it comes to Leah McSweeney’s lawsuit. Essentially, he hopes this will stop them from doing the discovery process which would continue gathering evidence. Andy stated in his letter to pause that “any discovery sought will be broad and require extensive responses.” So, he would like to wait until a decision on his motion is reached first before they go any further with Leah.

What Leah Wants

Andy Cohen also delved into what Leah McSweeney is looking to gain as she “only seeks money damages” and “would not be prejudiced by a stay.” He went on to allege both “parties and non-parties would be required to devote substantial time and resources to discovery, despite the likelihood that Plaintiff’s claims would be dismissed.” Additionally, Andy stated this:

“Notably, [McSweeney] already had the opportunity to supplement her pleadings following the filing of Defendants’ motion to dismiss the original Complaint, but she failed to correct any of the deficiencies.”

It has yet to be seen if Andy will get the pause that he is looking for but this is not the first time he has dealt with an angry housewife. Bethenny Frankel had her Reality Reckoning which involved Leah. RHOBH alum Brandi Glanville has come after Andy and Bravo for a plethora of things.
