Both Gypsy and her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn were sentenced to prison time after they were convicted of killing her mom. Clauddine “De Dee” Blanchard was allegedly abusing Gypsy throughout her childhood. Ultimately, Gypsy conspired with her boyfriend to kill her mother.

Dee Dee was found stabbed to death in her home on June 14, 2015. Two days after she was found, Gypsy Rose and her boyfriend were arrested for their involvement in the murder. Authorities believed they developed a plan to kill Dee Dee.

Following Gypsy’s arrest, officials learned that Dee Dee drugged her daughter throughout her childhood. She convinced her (and everyone else) that Gypsy was physically and mentally ill.

As Gypsy got older, she started talking to people on the internet. She eventually developed a relationship with Nicholas. The couple uncovered the abuse Gypsy Rose was enduring and she convinced her boyfriend to help her kill Dee Dee.

Gypsy was released on December 28, 2023. Nicholas Godejohn is serving a life sentence. Once she was released, people grew more and more interested in her life. Lifetime signed on to document the days and months following her release. She has also accrued massive numbers of followers on social media.

Last week, gruesome crime scene photos from Gypsy Rose’s home popped up. A Google Drive link was shared across social media containing the images. Joseph Scott Morgan spoke to The U.S. Sun about the pictures and what they revealed.

The scholar of Applied Forensics at Jacksonville University and associate professor said that the photos were some of the “most horrific” he has ever seen in his career. Not only did it give information about the crime that took place, but it also provided details about the home they shared.

Throughout the home were piles of clothing, magazines, and bottles of medication everywhere. Joseph Scott Morgan said this spoke to Dee Dee’s state of mind at the time. “I don’t know if that’s one of the things that maybe drove Gypsy to the brink,” he suggested.

Gypsy Rose Is A Master Manipulator

He went on to say that Gypsy Rose is a master manipulator and that the attack against her mother was obviously planned. The chaos in the house is what makes this apparent. “Whoever did this attack had an awareness that they could make it through the piles of garbage in the house, specifically to the location where Dee Dee was in bed,” the expert said.

Additionally, the images from the crime scene showed Dee Dee’s body. She was stabbed 17 times in the back as she lay in her bed, which Joseph points out indicated “Anger.” He also pointed out that stabbings are more bloody than most violent crimes.

“You always hear the term gun violence and, yeah, there’s gun violence. But when you’re talking about pure, unadulterated violence, you have bludgeoning deaths – which are beatings,” he added. “The thing about a sharp force injury death is this out of all of the deaths, it’s it’s very personal.”

To add to that, he said that stabbings or sharp force injuries are also associated with “highly sexualized” killings. The entire murder occurred in Dee Dee’s bed. However, the events that led up to that moment are unknown.

People have been obsessed with Gypsy Rose’s case for nearly 10 years. So, when the crime scene photos became public, it wasn’t surprising that they gained traction so quickly. The expert said, “We’re driven by the salacious. We are. For a lot of people that want to see images like this – they’re fascinated by these sorts of things, and they want to get just close enough, but they don’t want to get involved in it.”
