With so many reality series, the biggest question is what is real and what is staged. As with The Real Housewives, one wife tends to bring in a new cast member. It is supposed to be fairly organically like with Tamra Judge and Heather Dubrow. Tamra met Heather in Season 7 of RHOC when she was trying to sell her a house. They clicked so well that Tamra proceeded to invite her to a party at Vicki Gunvalson’s home and the rest is history. Then, there are the epic cast battles. How real are they and are they provoked by production?

Now, former OC housewife, Peggy Sulahian is opening up about her time on the show during Season 12 and what she saw firsthand. According to Reality Blurb!, Peggy claims that, when the cameras were off, the women were fine with one another. Yet, when they were on, it was a different ballgame. She talked about a fight between former housewife, Kelly Dodd and Shannon Beador:

“I remember on the show, one was hitting the other one’s leg. Like, Kelly would hit Shannon’s leg, like start b**ching at her. And I would say, ‘Why are you doing that?’ And they edit[ed] that. Like I would straight out tell her, ‘Why are you hitting her leg?’ And then one would leave to go to the bathroom because they don’t want to get involved. And then I would think to myself, why did she leave when there’s a conversation going on?”

It seems Peggy had questions as to why the women would avoid drama or why her questions would be edited out of the show. Then, she noted how once cameras went away, so did the ladies’ ill will for one another:

“When they sit down, it’s all of a sudden they’re catty. And then when cameras stop rolling, all of a sudden they’re like saying hi to each other. I’m like … what part of this is true and what part of this is false? … You got to know how to play the game.”

Furthermore, the cast would strategize on the side while production would guide them as to what to discuss. So, when they would go out to eat with a fellow housewife, they were allegedly told what to chat about. However, Peggy did make it clear that they were not told exactly what to say when they would meet up.

Do Viewers Care?

After learning about the behind-the-scenes RHOC gossip, thanks to Peggy Sulahian, do viewers care what the truth is? Or, do they just enjoy the spectacle that Bravo delivers? As it turned out, fans just wanted to voice their opinion on the infamous 100th housewife:

  • I really enjoyed Peggy when she was on OC. I wish they kept her for another season.
  • Ummm she made zero sense on the show when trying to make sense and i see nothing has changed. Cringey.
  • Uhm do we even remember her..
  • It’s all so contrived
  • They are over producing these shows

Some really missed Peggy and wished she had gotten an extra season. More so, they were happy to have another chance to hear her. Then others were completely over her and did not care what she had to say but did admit the show was made up in so many ways. However, as long as there is an audience, the shows will go on.
