‘General Hospital’ Faves Bid Farewell, But Will They Return?
General Hospital has seen some major changes in the last year alone. The head writers were replaced in January 2024, but one of their replacements was fired just months later. Steve Burton finally returned after a three-year absence, but other actors departed, including Roger Howarth and Michael Easton. Now the soap has lost three more fan-favorite characters in the last two weeks. What are the chances viewers will see any of them again? Keep reading for more.
Big Changes At General Hospital?
Changing head writers was a move widely praised by fans. However, recent storylines haven’t lived up to expectations. Viewers are particularly unhappy about the content that’s currently airing, including the storyline involving Blaze (Jacqueline Grace Lopez) and her homophobic mother, Natalia (Eva LaRue.)
Some fans are calling for executive producer Frank Valentini to step down. Could Ron Carlivati return to GH? He was head writer on the ABC soap from 2012 until 2015. Carlivati took over as head writer of Days of Our Lives in 2017 but recently left the position.
Is James Patrick Stuart Leaving Soap For Good?
James Patrick Stuart has played the role of Valentin Cassadine off and on since 2016. However, as the character was increasingly written into the corner, fans weren’t surprised when the character suddenly left town last week. He asked Anna (Finola Hughes) to go with him, but she said no. Is this the end of the road for Valentin and the actor?
Neither the network or James Patrick Stuart has confirmed if he is leaving for good or if the exit is only temporary. However, he left with his daughter, Charlotte (Scarlett Fernandez,) and she may soon have a good reason to return to Port Charles.
We Might See Charlotte Cassadine Again Soon
Scarlett Fernandez has played the offspring of the soap villain since she was just seven years old! Viewers watched as she brought Charlotte Cassadine through her younger years into the teenager she is today.
Unfortunately, Charlotte’s mother hasn’t been there much during her formative years. Her mom is Lulu Spencer, who has been in a coma since 2020. But the gossip mill is churning that Lulu could wake up now that her brother, Lucky, is coming back to town. Laura (Genie Francis) and Dante (Dominic Zamprogna) recently visited a comatose Lulu, further fueling speculation.
Jason Morgan & Jake’s Father-Son Drama Not Over
Like Charlotte, Jake Webber’s return to Port Charles was brief. Actor Hudson West is a favorite and fans want to see more of him. Will they?
The character left town to attend art school in Spain after Jason offered to pay his tuition. Steve Burton plans to stick around a while long, so it’s likely that Jake Webber will return to Port Charles sooner rather than later.
