Julie Chrisley and her husband Todd experienced a poor quality of life in prison, according to Savannah Chrisley. The Chrisley Knows Best alum hasn’t stopped calling out the lack of air-conditioning even though her mom might be sent home earlier than expected.

Julie Chrisley Struggles With The Heat

This time last year, Chrisley Knows Best alums, Savannah Chrisley and her brother, Chase talked about the lack of air conditioning in the Kentucky prison. At the time, the federal prison system claimed that all of its facilities were livable. A rep said that both AC and heat were turned on when the temperature outside dictated the need for it.

Julie Chrisley’s son, Chase called BS on that, and so did his sister, although she tried to rein him in a bit. He argued that even killers deserve livable temperatures. Well, it seems that their public debate on that didn’t make any difference at all.

Savannah Chrisley Says Mom Got Physically Ill

During her latest Unlocked podcast, Savannah talked about visiting her mom recently. As it was hot, she noticed that it seemed as if only certain people had access to air conditioning. Why it took on so much importance was that her mom loved the visitation because it meant a temporary respite from the heat in the airconditioned visitor center.

Julie Chrisley spoke with Savannah who cited her as saying that she “got physically sick because she got so hot.” The Chrisley Knows Best alum told her podcast listeners:

…outside the visitation room there is zero air conditioning. And the heat index was 105, 110 [degrees] and that’s what Mom’s living in… Conditions like that with absolutely no air. And it can be 100 degrees inside the building. She literally said that she got physically sick because she got so hot. So, you have these women who are suffering from heat exhaustion and they’re passing out. But yet, there’s service dogs that have air conditioning. None of it makes sense to me.

Chrisley Knows Best Fans React

While plenty of people don’t sympathize with Todd and Julie Chrisley, a lot of fans love them. In the comments, a few people talked about the alleged heat. Here are some reactions:

  • I’m in tears. Savannah thank you for shedding light on the inhumane actions of our system. I pray for you and your family.
  • [Thank] you Savannah for bringing awareness about the terrible conditions in our prison system.
  • This is so sad that people get treated this way. It makes me wonder how many people die in prison from being abused/mistreated. People are still human even if they made a mistake and are there. Keep up the good work Savannah!

  1. This isn’t the only prison with poor living conditions. The Stillwater prison in Minnesota is the exact same way. The men live in horrible conditions no good running water death after death riots upon riots for how they are living. they get absolutely no ac no running water it’s a Flippin joke. I think there should be more done by submitting concerns and getting the news involved and having the issues being more out there and ppl need to start speaking up and fighting for the rights of these ppl who have to live behind those walls. they do have rights they don’t have voices or petitions or anything to help back them up. I’d start doing more and raising hell. Stillwater minnesota prison did just that and it has made difference. voices ppl voices speak up and help those who need it.

  2. Where does her mother is? She committed a crime. No one ever said prison is fun. Maybe she will learn her lesson. Quit crying about it

    1. so if she is now getting out means she did nothing wrong should she have been treat likke that what if you were in there and did nothing wrong would you say its ok to be treated that way

      1. Rob,
Your statement raises important questions about fairness and justice. If she was found to be innocent or her charges were dropped, it does suggest that she should not have been treated poorly. No one deserves to be mistreated, especially if they are not guilty of any wrongdoing. It’s crucial for the justice system to ensure that individuals are treated with dignity and respect, regardless of the situation. If I were in that position and knew I was innocent, I would also feel that it’s wrong to be treated unfairly. The system should protect everyone’s rights, and we must advocate for fair treatment for all.

    2. They 100% deserve ac k heat no matter what. No idt it should be a walk in the ppark however it should be livable

  3. I have a hard time feeling sorry for a criminal just because she doesn’t have air conditioning. 🤦‍♀️

  4. That’s inhumane! I was in prison in Nashville and when the air conditioning didn’t work at one point they at least brought big industrial sized fans for us. Pray that something gets done!!

  5. Prison isn’t for relaxation, special benefits. Prison is a punishment. Unfortunately, some prisons offer too many benefits (i.e. a/c, college education, internet access, professional style gyms …) – law abiding citizens have to pay for themselves for these activities and through paying taxes pay for the incarcerated.

The prison system isn’t meant to coddle those who break laws. No a/c?? Should be a learning moment.

There are people who didn’t break the law who are living in worse conditions than prison.

    1. I agree But that does not mean they should be living in hot hell they didn’t kill anyone they committed a crime as far as fraud it is what it is do they have to pay for that? 1000% YES but they don’t have to be treated that way no human should be put that way. But then again it’s not ur family so why should u care right?
I’m sure had it been someone u know I would speak different

  6. This is not right the Prison should provide air conditioning for all the inmates not just the dogs. Thank you Savanah for Sharing these conditions to us.. You are a Wonderful Daughter to take such great care of your younger brother and Chloe She is So Beautiful. You have done a Awesome Job .
Praying your Mom Julie comes home sooner .

  7. I used to work at a hospital near the Reformatory. We would get patients in from the Reformatory, quite often, suffering from heat exhaustion. Sadly, a few ( one is too many) passed from it bc the staff waited too long and didn’t take the inmates seriously. It was incredibly heartbreaking. I feel for Julie. Those conditions are not fit for man nor beast, yet they would never put the service dogs in those conditions. It would be considered Inhumane 💔

  8. Like she can’t deal with the heat uhh it’s hot everywhere even in jail . You do the crime u pay the time just like everyone else. poor poor pitiful me , blah blah blah. They’re all spoiled the whole family.

    1. dam . everyone should have ac and fit water to drink !!! whether you committed a crime or not. what’s wrong with you people saying oh it’s prison.. bet you sure would not like it if the shoe was on the other foot.!!!!@ and don’t say oh can’t happen to you cuz it could..

  9. Most prisoners are suffering from lack of air conditioning and heat in all states. We just buried a 33 yr. old man from a heat stroke. He wasn’t in prison, but working on a job. So, how many do we lose in prison because of this?

  10. it is awful ppl are getting treated worse than the dogs! I agree they committed a crime & they’re paying their debt to society but to not care & at least give them fans is inhumane. if we acted like that in society we’d get charged with some violation I’m sure. it’s nuts that even prudent lay persons believe it’s OK. is our society that inhumane? wow! Keep going Sassy! You are 100% right hun

  11. I totally agree with you. You are in prison for doing something against the law. We have law abiding citizens that can’t afford A/C. They should be grateful they get 3 meals a day and a roof over their head and again law abiding citizens are struggling to live with the economy. I don’t feel bad at all.
