‘Game Of Thrones’ Ian Gelder Dead At 74

Game Of Thrones Ian Gelder Dead At 74
Ian Gelder, who played the role of Kevan Lannister in Game of Thrones, has passed away, per his husband, Ben Daniels. He was just 74 and it was due to a bout with cancer. Ian was diagnosed with bile duct cancer in December 2023 and succumbed on Monday, May 6th, 2024. This was fast-moving and more than anyone expected.
Daniels broke the news of Ian’s passing via Instagram with a beautiful photo of the couple and a heartfelt tribute.

The two had been together for more than three decades and he referred to Ian as his “rock.” More so, when the couple was not together, they were in constant communication. Daniels also noted that he had ceased working to take care of Ian, not knowing that this would happen so fast. According to People, it took everyone close to him by surprise, including his agent. They shared that Ian was “a beautiful man, a fine actor” and “will be hugely missed by his colleagues and all those that loved him.”
Immediately, love flowed in from everywhere. Actor Matt Lanter shared this:
“My gosh Ben. There are really no words. All of my love to you today. Praying for your peace and comfort. Love you buddy.”

The Legacy
Aside from Game of Thrones, Ian Gelder also had other works to add to his legacy that he is leaving behind. He made an appearance in Doctor Who and was set to star in Interview With the Vampire. It is clear that he will be missed but never forgotten. He leaves behind his beloved partner who did the best he could to be by his side. This is a devastating loss but, again, he has a legacy many can only dream.
