Nick Viall Says ‘Bachelorette’ Producers Set Jenn Tran Up To Fail
Former Bachelor Nick Viall feels that producers set Jenn Tran up for failure when they named her The Bachelorette. Nick recently spoke with Daisy Kent on his podcast, The Viall Files. The new father asked Daisy some of the hard questions and also got out of her why she turned down the role of a lifetime. He also shared why he feels Jenn was not set up for success. What did he have to say? Keep reading to find out more.
Nick Viall Thinks Jenn Tran Was Not Set Up For Success
Nick Viall discussed on The Viall Files new Bachelorette Jenn Tran. The topic came up when he visited with Daisy Kent and talked about her turning down the opportunity. The top two choices fans were begging to see as the new lead were Daisy and Maria Georgas.
Daisy turned the show down just two weeks before The Bachelor finale. Rumors are flying that perhaps the show would not agree to the terms Maria wanted so she also declined their offer. So, Jenn Tran was very unexpectedly named as the Season 21 lead.
Many were happy since she was the first Asian-American lead for the franchise. However, Nick thinks that the show did not set Jenn up for success. Some fans in Bachelor Nation also felt that way.
Nick believes the show made a big mistake by not doing everything they could to make Daisy take on the role. He said, “I think there’s something about Daisy and her sincerity — I really think the show missed out.”
He went on to say that he is excited for Jenn, but he thinks the show went about casting her the wrong way. They basically set her up for failure.
What Exactly Did Nick Say?
Nick said, “I’m really happy for Jenn. I’m very happy for the representation that Bachelor Nation is finally having when it comes to Asian representation. I’m really bummed they went about it this way because clearly Jenn wasn’t their first choice. They never planned on Jenn being the Bachelorette and they haven’t set Jenn up for success. We don’t know who she is. We don’t know her story. And it’s a bummer that Jenn is going into this role being set up like this.”
He also said that he thinks the franchise can still save the season by releasing more of Jenn’s backstory before her season airs on television.
Nick hopes that fans will know more about her than just that she is the first Asian American lead on the show.
