Kim Kardashian Caught Lying, Being Sued For Knock-Offs
Unfortunately, The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian, may have overstepped while bragging about her stylish duds. Although the businesswoman is under question for a video from over two years ago, now an estate is suing her. While the SKIMs founder was showing off her office, she touts that some of the designer brands were genuine, however, now that is being called into question. Likewise, her boasting about knock-offs as the real deal has landed her in a bit of hot water.
Kim Kardashian Is Under Fire
Seemingly, The Kardashians star, Kim Kardashian’s past is coming back to haunt her. When she was giving a tour of her luxurious SKIMs office, she may have oversold the materials. In a viral video, Kim takes fans into the minimalist, chic office used to make all her product magic. However, during the walk-through, she discusses the furniture in her kitchen as being Donald Judd’s originals. While the wooden table and hidden chairs were a clean style that followed her modern workspace theme, now fans are finding out they aren’t the genuine product of Donald Judd after all.
Notably, Donald Judd the design world thinks highly of the artist who famously created minimalistic furniture, sculptures, and home designs. Although the artist has passed, his estate is accusing Kim of purchasing the furniture through a company named Clements Design. According to court document discovery by TMZ, the story goes deeper.
Clement Design Claims There Are Obvious Differences
Notably, Clements Design is the defendant in the case. They told the outlet that there are “obvious key differences” between Kim Kardashian’s furniture and Donald’s designs. In their findings, Clements Design was aware over a year ago. They say, “This issue was brought to our attention over a year ago. We communicated with the Judd Foundation’s counsel and explained to them in no uncertain terms that there were obvious key differences between the tables and chairs in Kim’s office and the Judd Foundation’s tables and chairs.” The time frame is suspicious Kim was aware since the video remained online until just days ago.
Furthermore, Clements Design thought the explanation of the significant design differences had satisfied the issue at hand. However, that wasn’t the case, they say, “The Judd Foundation’s prior counsel acknowledged these differences and since then, we have not heard from them in over a year, and are now being blindsided with a lawsuit.” Continuing they say, “Efforts were made to resolve this issue amicably at the time and the Judd Foundation was unwilling to settle on reasonable terms. These claims have absolutely no merit.”
The Judd Foundation Makes Demands Of Kim Kardashian And Clements Design
Seemingly, the Judd Foundation is accusing Kim Kardashian of convincing her fans and other viewers that the lower quality knock-off furniture was the higher quality Donald Judd originals. Additionally, the estate claims that Kim’s video tarnishes the good name of their brand. Furthermore, they are demanding Kim remove the video. Likewise, they want her to retract her previous statements about the origin of the items. Then they also want to recoup profits from the mistake made by Clements Design. However, TMZ reports it is difficult to prove damages in a case like this. Instead, most likely, Kim’s free publicity would have helped the brand not hurt it. While the quality may be significantly different, it will likely be difficult to show they lost profits due to Kim’s video.
