‘Prison Brides’ Can Convict Joseph Legally Move To Germany With Svea?

Prison Brides: Svea - Joseph

Prison Brides from Lifetime has a lot of viewers buzzing over this new show. When it comes to Svea and her felon flame, Joseph, she wants to take him with her to Germany. However, his criminal past could throw a wrench into those plans.
What’s the latest with these two?

Lifetime Pushing The Envelope With New Prison Brides Show

Prison Brides from Lifetime is already making waves. Only a few episodes into the first season, there’s plenty for viewers to talk about. Falling in love with felons is one thing. When you add to the mix that the pairs are from different countries, it certainly adds layers to the entire experience.

Not only do these Prison Brides pairs have to deal with the fact that one of them is locked up, but, the fact that they are from different countries also adds elements of culture clash into the equation. So far, it looks like Lifetime found another winner, as there is plenty of drama to unpack.

Prison Brides: Svea From Germany Fell For American Felon, Joseph

Svea is a midwife from Germany who is utterly smitten with American convict, Joseph. The Michigan native was behind bars, serving 11 years for armed robbery. Where most people would look the other way, Svea dug her heels in with Joseph despite all the obstacles ahead of them as a couple.

The Prison Brides pair connected online as pen pals. After that, Svea flew to America to see her man, fully intending to marry him. Svea may have had no issues traveling to Michigan to see Joseph. However, based on her future plans, she has no desire to live in America, which could be a problem for these two moving forward.

Svea Wants A Life With Joseph In Germany

Svea and Joseph had a tearful reunion in recent Prison Brides scenes, because Joseph was released after 11 years. As Joseph adjusts to the “reality” of this new world, there’s more than just a happy reunion for Svea and Joseph to navigate.

Svea wants Joseph to relocate with her to her home country rather than her living in the US with him. While that may sound good in theory, whether or not that’s actually possible is a question a lot of Prison Brides fans have.

Germany has strict rules in place regarding who they let into the country. According to Schlun & Elseven, a law firm in the country: “Having a criminal record is listed as a specific cause not to give a person a residence permit.”

In addition, many Prison Brides fans don’t think it’s right for Svea to try to take Joseph away from his home and his family so soon after getting out of prison. So, if these two stay together for the long haul, it seems more than likely that Svea will have to find a way to stay in America if she wants to be with her man.
