Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s Rise In Popularity
Many people became familiar with Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s story through various documentaries that have been made about her life. The Act on Hulu has been one of the most popular documentaries to take a closer look at Gypsy’s life.
She was a victim of Munchausen’s by Proxy. Once Gypsy found out that her mother had been making her sick for years, she made a plan to have her mom murdered by her boyfriend. Most people saw Gypsy as a victim and were able to sympathize with why she would do something so horrible. After all, she’d been treated badly all of her life.

However, she wound up pleading guilty to second-degree murder and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. In September, she was granted parole and was released in December 2023 after serving eight years of her ten-year sentence.
Since her release from prison, Gypsy has gained a lot of attention from media outlets and fans. She has accrued a large following on social media and, surprisingly, many people are rooting for her to succeed following the murder of her mother.

ABC’s Deborah Roberts will be sitting down with Gypsy Rose Blanchard to discuss some hard-hitting questions. In the sneak peek posted by ABC’s 20/20, Deborah tells Gypsy that there are a lot of people looking forward to hearing her speak.
The clip also shows the seasoned ABC interviewer asking Gypsy one of the most commonly asked questions. Why didn’t she just walk away once she found out she wasn’t sick? More importantly, why is she speaking up about it now? Deborah also asks her why she thinks she has gained so much popularity over the last few months. There are also several interviews with people who knew Gypsy and Dee Dee Blanchard when the murder happened.
