sMothered Brittani Shares Body Struggles Due To ‘Missing Gene’
Brittani and her mother, Mary were on Season 2 of sMothered and were definitely looked at as strange and different. They would shower together which was supposed to be due to Brittani’s anxiety. Additionally, they got colonics as a team and that was pushing the envelope. Mary did have a partner, Frank Canuto who fans really liked but Brittani was not a fan. She ended up coming out as bisexual and some viewers believed it was to push his buttons further. Then, they departed and did not return until this season.
They no longer bathe together though Mary is in the tub as Brittani lathers up in the see-through shower. Plus, Brittani has a boyfriend who Mary is not too keen on. Sadly, Frank passed away shortly after he and Mary tied the knot so that has been an adjustment. Brittani has also talked about more body insecurities like her flat bum. Mary believes it is her daughter’s boyfriend perpetrating this insecurity but there is a lot more to it. According to Reality Titbit, Brittani was born with a condition that gave her a body beyond her young years.
What the sMothered star has is called congenital adrenal hyperplasia. Initially, Brittani was a pageant girl but that dream was ripped away from her due to this condition. Her mother, Mary, broke it down completely:
“I wanted to keep Brittani in pageants for as long as she wanted to be in pageants. Eventually, it stopped, only because of her health issues. I was in the bathroom getting her ready for her shower and noticed she was getting hair all over her body. Under her chin, arms, pubic hair, her breasts were developing. I was astonished.”
The Breakdown
Mary further shared that: “It’s a missing gene.” It apparently only affects about 1/15K causing puberty to start at around four or five years of age. Brittani shared her trauma of developing so young and early and how it affected her, especially with cruel people:
“I went through so much change in so little time. My bone size progressed when I was five and I had the body size of an 11-year-old. And it was pretty scary because I didn’t know what was happening. I felt like, ‘Why me?’ I just wished that I was born more normal. I would be made fun of because I always stood out.”
It has led viewers to think that she might have autism or something along those lines. Now, she has set the record straight as to the trauma she underwent at a very early age. Now, it makes a little more sense why she is so dependent on her mother as she was likely the only one who was there for her during her struggles.
