As we’ve reported, MAFS is making history with its very first runaway bride this season. She walked down the aisle, looked at Michael, and let him know that she couldn’t proceed, taking off down the aisle. Unfortunately, fans still don’t know who the mystery bride is or what prompted her to leave Michael at the altar. Of course, everyone is eager to get to know her and learn the full story.
Michael appears at the altar with a sword and a crown.
On Wednesday, fans tuned in to watch Married at First Sight Season 17 debut on Lifetime. After the premiere episode aired, however, fans had questions about Michael’s wedding attire and how it might have scared his bride away. He held a sword in his hands while wearing a crown on his head. The beaming groom also wore an all-black tuxedo with a pale pink bow tie. He had a huge smile on his face as his bride walked his way, but his smile quickly disappeared when his bride ran off.

Did the MAFS star’s accessories scare off his bride?
Online, fans were speculating that Michael’s sword and crown might have scared his bride away. If she was uncertain about getting married, she could have backed out before the wedding or before she walked down the aisle. But because she ran off after seeing Michael, some fans believe it had to do with his sword and crown.
However, the MAFS Fan account on Instagram confirmed that the sword and crown were a gift from the bride to Michael.
The Instagram user wrote, “So if you think he is a weirdo for wearing these items and that she ran away when she saw him, please know that he was actually being a good sport and honoring her wishes.”
MAFS viewers weigh in on these rumors.
On Reddit, fans are discussing this new confirmation about the accessories being gifts. They seem to appreciate the clarification, which may prove that Michael didn’t actually scare off his bride. He might have been showing her appreciation by using the gift she gave him.
Some fans, however, are doubtful of these rumors. Some think that the producers might have gifted the sword and crown to Michael to create more interest and drama at the altar. One MAFS viewer said, “And if it was a gift, they should have showed him opening the gift, as they’ve done in the past. The fact that they were a wedding gift given to him by his bride on the wedding day makes a big difference in my book.”
Unfortunately, the truth isn’t crystal clear here and fans aren’t sure what to believe.
So, do you think that the runaway bride really gifted the sword and crown to Michael? Or do you think there’s more to the story?
