John J. York Shares About His Cancer Diagnosis

Today John J. York went to his Twitter to share his cancer diagnosis and that he needs a donor. You can see the details in the video below. Here is what he had to say:

“I said I was going to give you an update on the reason I’m raking a little hiatus from General Hospital, and here it is. So last December of ’22, I was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome, or MDS, and multiple smoldering myeloma, two blood and bone-marrow disorders. Over the past many months, I’ve had three bone-marrow biopsies, many chemo treatments — I have another one coming up in a couple of weeks. and I’m closing in on a blood-stem-cell transplant.”

He went on to explain that he needs a donor and so do a lot of other people in the world. You can go to be the match and sign up to see if you are able to be a donor for him or anyone else out there who needs one. John J. York encouraged people to sign up to be a donor and help him or someone else who might need one. He will be gone from playing Mac for three to four months but promises that he will be back on General Hospital again. Expect him to be back as soon as he can. He won’t be letting this keep him down. It will be interesting to see what they do with the character of Mac missing for such a long time.
