The Today Show‘s meteorologist Al Roker shocked his co-host Hoda Kotb with some unexpected behavior on the air.

Al is known for being a playful troublemaker, both on and off the air. If he’s not making sarcastic quips and pranks in the studio, he’s taking playful jabs at his colleagues during their downtime. Al Tried New Career Path

Al Roker has been with The Today Show since 1996. Over the years, he and his colleagues have discussed the possibility of his retirement many times. But one theme remains constant: Al loves being on the show.

However, the intrepid meteorologist recently branched out and gave a new career path a chance: acting. The Today Show star host appeared on a recent episode of the Showtime drama, Billions. But fans who enjoyed Al’s new show can’t expect more of the same. The morning show host explained that his appearance on Billions is a one-time deal, and it won’t be a recurring role.

Al took to Instagram to share his excitement at the new endeavor. He shared a picture of himself and Billions star David Costabile smiling at the camera. Al captioned the photo, “It was quite the thrill making a cameo in the latest episode of the brilliant @sho_billions opposite The Wagster, @david_costabile.”

But now that his acting days are over and Al Roker is back in the studio like normal, he’s back to pranking his co-workers.

This time, Al’s efforts ensnared co-host Hoda Kotb. On Tuesday, Hoda opened a segment by discussing the heat wave currently gripping the United States. The unseasonable heat has everyone’s senses confused as Fall approaches, and Hoda remarked on the unusual weather. Then, it was time for Al to weigh in with his weather acumen and expertise.

The studio cameras turned to Al as Hoda told viewers, “Let’s head over to Mr. Roker to check the forecast.” Al was standing in front of his weather screens. But instead of showing the sweltering heat and images of people coping with the high temps, videos were playing of people shoveling snow. A baffled Hoda loudly asked Al, “What are you doing?”

A playful Al replied, “I thought I’d give us a little amuse-bouche, a little palate cleanser.” He gestured to the snowy scenes and explained, “This is Utah, parts of Utah already seeing snow, the ski resorts there.” The cool weather is “coming for” the rest of the US, Al said, “But in the meantime, we got heat to talk about.”
