Speaking exclusively to People Magazine, Adam, Matthew, and Anthony issued an official joint statement regarding the passing of their father at the age of 89. Here’s what his sons had to say:
Our father was a uniquely talented force of nature, both as an artist and a man. A loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather, he was adored and will be deeply missed.”
Alan Arkin has quite a decorated career with over 100 acting credits to his name including his most recent role alongside Michael Douglas in Netflix’s The Kominsky Method. This role earned him Emmy nominations in both 2020 and 2019 as well as Screen Actors Guild and Golden Globe nominations in 2021 and 2020.
In 2006, the actor landed the role of Edwin Hoover in Little Miss Sunshine. He only had 14 minutes of screen time, but he won an Oscar for the brief appearance as Best Supporting Actor. His career took a turn in 2012 when he landed a role in the political drama titled Argo which needed him his fourth Oscar nomination.
His 66-year-old son, Adam Arkin, followed in his father’s footsteps wearing the hat of both an actor and a director. Adam has several well-known titles on his resume including 8 Simple Rules, Chicago Hope, and Sons of Anarchy.

He earned this net worth largely thanks to his careers as an actor, producer, director, writer, singer, and musician. In 1956, he had a hit song called “The Banana Boat Song” with a folk music band called The Tarriers. From 1958 to 1968, he was part of a children’s folk group called The Baby Sitters.
According to IMDb, his final acting credit was as the voice actor of Wild Knuckles in Minions: The Rise of Gru just last year.
