Ryan Seacrest In As Wheel Of Fortune Host
It was no surprise when Pat Sajak announced that he would be leaving Wheel of Fortune in 2024 after 41 seasons. More so, he seemed to be getting to the point where fans no longer cared for him. Yet, who could possibly fill his shoes? Fans watched as Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings struggled to be a match for the late Alex Trebek on Jeopardy! It has been an uphill battle. Yet, there is still a whole season left to make the decision but it did not take that long.
ABC chose to keep it in the family as they have chosen Live with Kelly & Ryan alum and American Idol host Ryan Seacrest. Seacrest took to Instagram to share the big news. In his announcement, he explained that one of his first gigs was hosting for the iconic Merv Griffin. Of course, Ryan knows what a big deal this job is and is ready to learn all that he can from Pat during their transitional period. It is still unclear if Vanna White will be leaving at the same time as Sajak.
Celeb friends Kris Jenner, Chris Harrison, and housewife alum Gretchen Rossi sent their congratulations. Fans who saw this announcement immediately reacted. One person wrote: “You’re a f**king icon you just keep going!!! Don’t stop!!! Such an inspiration! Can’t wait to watch!!!🙌🙌” Another added: “Best news ever 👏👏👏 It will be my first time watching this show !! Cannot wait ❤️” One suggested that they do a whole reboot and bring Pat Sajak’s daughter, Maggie into Vanna’s shoes.
One More Season
As for now, Wheel of Fortune fans will still have one more season of Pat Sajak. It is unclear if Ryan Seacrest will do some guest appearances to get viewers comfortable will him. He also needs to become adjusted to this new job. Yet, he is so beloved and will give a fresh perspective to the long-running game show. Pat Sajak worked because he took over for Chuck Woolery who went onto continue hosting. So, it is time to pass the torch.
