Amy Halterman Suffering From Postpartum Depression?
1000-Lb. Sisters fans have quickly shifted from being team Amy to being team Tammy. Amy Halterman appears to be struggling with her weight loss journey and being crasser with her sister Tammy more than what fans are used to. In fact, fans were disgusted with the way Amy Halterman acted at her sister’s wedding. And, they were very vocal about it across multiple social media platforms.
One fan blasted Amy as a “sloppy mess” in a conversation that quickly spun out of control in a Facebook fan group. Another fan, however, rushed to Amy’s defense asking if anyone stopped to consider the fact that Amy might just be suffering postpartum depression.
Amy Halterman: Postpartum depression or jealousy?
1000-Lb. Sisters fans seemingly agree one of two things is happening. Amy Halterman is either suffering from postpartum depression after giving birth to Glenn. Or, she’s just jealous that her world is falling apart as Tammy’s is coming together. Her sister Tammy Slaton Willingham is finally losing weight. And, she’s gotten married. She has finally reached a place where she can live her life.
Amy, on the other hand, is struggling to survive two small children. And, she’s having trouble with her marriage that she thought was solid enough to bring children into. Fans agree it really could go either way on what’s wrong with Amy. But, they hope she’ll reach out to a mental health doctor to get some assistance either way.
What is postpartum depression, anyway?
Postpartum depression is also commonly referred to as “baby blues.” Per the Mayo Clinic, it is a type of depression that occurs after a woman gives birth. Typically, this type of depression rears its ugly head within the first few weeks of childbirth. It is pretty rare for symptoms of postpartum depression to creep up for the first time beyond the child’s three-month milestone. In rare cases, however, postpartum depression can occur up until 9 months after childbirth.
Postpartum depression can cause mood swings, sadness, irritability, anxiety, feeling overwhelmed, crying, reduced concentration, appetite problems, and trouble sleeping.
