Heartbroken Jinger Vuolo Calls Out Hypocrisy & False Prophet
Heartbroken Jinger Vuolo is calling out the hypocrisy and the false prophet she dealt with for years. The Duggar daughter and former Counting On star opened up about it all in her new memoir, and now, she’s sharing more details about how these false teachings harmed her. Stick around to see what Jinger added to the conversation.
On Monday, Jan. 30, Good Morning America aired a recent interview in which Jinger Vuolo sat down with Juju Chang to promote her book, Becoming Free Indeed. In the interview, Jinger opened up about her family’s religious beliefs and how she has been through a spiritual deconstruction. She’s still a Christian but doesn’t believe everything she used to.
The Duggar Family’s Religious Beliefs
Jinger’s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar have raised their 19 kids in the IBLP. The IBLP is the Institute of Basic Life Principles, which has very strict religious beliefs. It was founded by Bill Gothard. Growing up, Jinger was not allowed to wear pants, listen to secular music, and more. She and her 18 siblings were homeschooled, dressed very modestly, and courted rather than dating.
Juju noted that Jinger Vuolo grew up in a fishbowl on TV. Many fans will remember details of Jinger’s upbringing, thanks to her family’s TV shows and specials. The Duggars certainly caught viewers’ attention for their strict rules and for having such a huge family. Currently, they do not have a show, but they use various social media platforms to keep in touch with fans.

Jinger Vuolo Calls Out Hypocrisy & False Prophet
Now that she’s been through her own deconstruction, the Duggar daughter is exposing the flaws in the IBLP.
In the interview, she explained, “I thought it was all true—all these teachings from this man I’d followed. It was a teacher that I grew up thinking was teaching me the Bible, and I thought his words were the words of God.”
Jinger Vuolo explained that she “started to examine his teachings” once she got older.
She also admitted, “He’s definitely a false prophet, a false teacher.” She noted that he was introduced as someone who held all of the answers. But she learned that simply wasn’t the case.
GMA reported that Bill Gothard resigned several years ago after being accused of sexual harassment. Jinger Vuolo feels that this is hypocritical of the man who was supposed to be a religious leader.
Throughout the interview, Jinger looked heartbroken by her deconstruction journey. She got emotional about false prophets and hypocrisy in her family’s religion and the ways she’s been affected.
