US Weekly shared the 51-year-old judge went home and vomited after Monday night. Carrie Ann was reportedly near tears when she said it was her job to decide who should move on to the finals. She shares it was heartbreaking to send someone as well loved as James home. He was a fan favorite this season and predicted to go to the finals, possibly winning it all. His elimination was shocking to say the least.
Carrie Ann said it was not only heart breaking to send a fan favorite home, but when there has been a tragedy it’s even worse. She said, “I have so much sadness in my heart for them, and my prayers are with them. But, you know, this is when it’s really hard. As a judge, I have to judge the dance. I know on Dancing With the Stars we show their stories and we get to know them, and they become family, and their pain is my pain.”

Carrie Ann continued to defend her choice
While speaking on The Talk, Carrie Ann went on to defend her choice to eliminate James and partner Emma Slater. She said, “But at the same time, it’s like in the Olympics — if something happens to somebody before they get on the gymnastics mat, it doesn’t matter what happens in your personal life. I have to judge what’s happening on the dance floor.”
James was eliminated while Ally Brooke was chosen to stay. Ally even offered her spot to James, but he declined. She said, “I was very sad and upset and I felt like James deserved to be there. I really wanted to give him my spot but he wanted me to be there.”

Details behind James and Kimberly’s tragedy
James shared that over the weekend prior to his tenth week of dance, Kimberly lost their baby. He took to Instagram to share the devastating feelings he and his wife were feeling. James said, “Wrecked. Devastated. In shock. That’s how we’re feeling right now after the soul we thought were going to welcome into our family in April… has taken a short cut to whatever lies beyond this life.”
This would have been the sixth child for James and Kimberly.
