Michael and Brandon tied the knot on August 15, 2015. In their seven years of marriage, they have been working through infertility. Part of this journey was documented on UPtv’s Bringing Up Bates. But recently, they have opted to go through this more privately.
Though Michael and Brandon would like to keep things private, she did recently welcome questions from fans via Instagram. She shared about her heartbreak and offered helpful advice, too.
Bringing Up Bates fans ask how Michael spends time with kids despite her sadness.
Michael’s infertility battle has been difficult, as fans know. But she lives close to many of her sisters and brothers who have started their own families. She enjoys babysitting them and helping out however she can.
One fan was curious to know if this makes Michael sad.
In response, the Bringing Up Bates star said, “Not being able to have children definitely brings an element of heartbreak but getting to spend time with nieces, nephews, and siblings is one of the most healing gifts.”
She also said that she’s thankful that she gets to spend so much time with the young kids in her life. She shared several photos of herself and Brandon with their nieces and nephews.
Michael Bates Keilen shares her words of wisdom.
Another Bringing Up Bates fan asked for advice for family members who are watching their loved ones walk through infertility. This fan’s sister is dealing with infertility, and the fan simply wants to be supportive.
First, Michael applauded the fan for sending in “such a thoughtful and considerate question.” She also acknowledged that all people are different and will deal with infertility differently. So, what Michael does for emotional support may not work for everyone.
She went on to share some of the ways her family helps encourage her amid her infertility. She appreciates her relatives letting her know when they are praying for her.
Another way her family supports her is by letting her know about their pregnancies via text message in advance so she can process the news on her own. She also enjoys helping out with baby showers and other events. And as mentioned, hanging out with her nieces and nephews means a lot.
