John and Abbie Duggar tied the knot on November 3, 2018. This summer, they revealed that they are expecting their first child together. They are thrilled, even though it came as a bit of a surprise. They found out when Abbie was not feeling well. To check things out, they went to an urgent care center, where she took a pregnancy test. This is how they found out that they had a baby on the way.

To announce that they are expecting, the couple had an aviation-themed photo shoot, featuring a onesie that reads, “Baby passenger on board” with an illustration of a plane. This fits the couple’s interests well. Duggar fans recall that John proposed to Abbie in an airplane hangar.

Abbie Duggar diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum

Abbie has revealed that she has been diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum. John talked with Us Weekly about her pregnancy so far. Because of this diagnosis, things haven’t been easy for her. In the interview, he said, “It hit her hard, and she was down for probably seven weeks with severe morning sickness. She got diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum, and she was hospitalized a couple times. We made multiple visits to the ER for dehydration. … She couldn’t eat, pretty much, or drink, or anything. So she was actually on IVs and had IVs at home. So that was a pretty scary time.”

Then, he continued, “I keep her water filled up, and her snacks for her. I keep her eating and just comfortable. Anything I can get for her, I try to. I run to the store, [get] whatever she needs, just keep her as comfortable as possible when she’s feeling bad.”

Abbie also shared about how helpful John has been. It sounds like he’s taking on a lot of extra responsibilities to care for his pregnant wife. Abbie said, “He’s cooked for me. He’s cleaned. He’s just been an angel.”

What is Hyperemesis Gravidarum?

According to the American Pregnancy Association, “Hyperemesis gravidarum is a condition characterized by severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss, and electrolyte disturbance. Mild cases are treated with dietary changes, rest, and antacids. More severe cases often require a stay in the hospital so that the mother can receive fluid and nutrition through an intravenous line (IV).”

Based on what John and Abbie have shared publicly, fans believe that Abbie and the baby will be okay. Fans also think that they would have gotten an update if anything else was seriously wrong.
